The TLC family has lost one of its stars.
Charity Pierce, known for sharing her weight loss story on the TV show My 600-lb Life, has passed away at age 50, her daughter, Charly Jo, announced.
On January 27th, Charly announced on Facebook that her mother had passed away, describing her as “finally at peace.” She didn’t share details about how her mother died.
She initially didn’t plan to address this, but the constant calls and texts are really stressing her out, as she shared in a post with a photo of her holding her mother’s hand, according to TMZ.
Charly shared the news that her mother had passed away earlier today. She mentioned that most of her family already knew and expressed relief that her mother was now at peace, reunited with her own mother, brother, and sister.
She said, “Soar now, Mom. I want you to know how much I love you and how thankful I am that I could be with you at the very end.”
I first came to know Charity when she appeared on season three of My 600-lb Life back in 2015. It was incredibly moving to watch her journey, and I was shocked to learn from TLC that she weighed 778 pounds when she first started the show.
People watched as she bravely dealt with difficult health issues, complications from surgery, family hardships, and the challenges of obesity. Through it all, she managed to lose an incredible 282 pounds, bringing her weight down to 496 pounds.

When Charity appeared on the My 600-lb Life: Where Are They Now? update, she was determined to move forward with her life. She had been avoiding family because they reminded her of difficult times, but she was now eating healthy, staying sober, and working on rebuilding her relationship with Charly.
She admitted in an October 2025 YouTube special that she’s still working towards her goals. While she deeply misses Charly and wants her involved, a recent conversation has helped her feel like she’s finally starting to heal and become the mother Charly needs.

The reality star was thrilled to finally be working and driving again, as it had been more than two decades since she last held a job or owned a car.
She expressed feeling energized and motivated again, saying it felt good to be challenging herself. ‘I feel like I’m truly living again for the first time in a long time,’ she shared, adding that she credited a friend named Charly for helping her realize what she needed to change.
Charity explained that things had to get really difficult before they got better. Once she started to feel hopeful, she felt like she regained her energy and drive. Despite the challenges of the past five years, she’s incredibly grateful for everything she’s experienced – both the good and the bad – because it ultimately led her to where she is now.
