Chase Stokes Alludes to Being “Blocked” Amid Kelsea Ballerini Breakup

Chase Stokes and Kelsea Ballerini’s relationship has taken a turn.

Although rumors circulated that Chase and the Outer Banks star had gotten back together after splitting up in September, Chase’s recent posts suggest their relationship, whether romantic or not, is likely over for good.

On November 20th, he posted to his Instagram Story, telling people not to trust the media and insisting he hadn’t done anything wrong, explaining that he’d been blocked from something.

Alongside a red heart, he added, “Sorry. I tried.”

On a following slide, Chase appeared to speak directly to those who supported him and Kelsea, simply stating, “I’m sorry to anyone who believed in us. That’s just how things are.”

As a parting reminder, he concluded, “Onwards and upwards.”

TopMob News has reached out to reps for Kelsea and Chase for comment but has not yet heard back,

The singer, 33, recently posted a puzzling message after reports surfaced two months ago that she and Chase had broken up. However, fans began speculating they were getting back together when Kelsea visited Chase on the set of his show, Outer Banks, in Dubrovnik, Croatia on November 7th. The rumors intensified when a video of them dancing together in the city quickly spread online.

However, with Chase’s recent messages, it seems that journey back to love may be no more. 

People began speculating about a relationship between Chase and Kelsea in January 2023, but they were initially very private about it. It wasn’t until February that Chase hinted to People magazine that they were just getting to know each other.

Just a few weeks after the rumors started, Kelsea confirmed they were dating, explaining that she actually initiated things by sending him a direct message online.

She admitted on the Call Her Daddy podcast that she hadn’t watched his show, but she immediately started dating him anyway, saying she ‘just dove right in.’

Although Kelsea and Chase didn’t become romantically involved until 2023, she revealed they actually met briefly two years prior, and she remembered it vividly. This happened just a few months after she finalized her divorce from country singer Morgan Evans.

She told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show that she was on a very early morning flight – around 5 a.m. – and was starting to drift off to sleep when she noticed a young girl excitedly approaching the passenger behind her. She was really impressed by how kind and attentive the passenger was to the fan, even at that early hour.

She described their 2021 meeting as heartwarming, saying, “He’s a genuinely kind person, and I could tell that from just that one interaction.”

And Chase, too, had only good things to say about Kelsea during their almost three years together.

He told People magazine in April 2024 that she’s one of the most authentic people you’ll ever encounter. He praised her for always making time for others and being truly present, saying you feel like she’s fully engaged when you’re with her.

Just weeks before their split in September, Chase still publicly expressed his affection for Kelsea, even calling her his “love” in a birthday post for her 32nd birthday.

“Although you keep saying you’re not excited for 32,” he captioned the Sept. 12 post, featuring a carousel of photos of the pair, “id say I’m lookin forward to more of this.”

On December 1st, 2022, around 1:30 a.m., Kelsea Ballerini sent a direct message to Chase Stokes after having a night out with friends. She was reportedly intoxicated at the time.

The pair snuggled together to watch the University of Georgia easily defeat Texas Christian University at the 2023 College Football National Championship game, which was held in California.

In August 2023, Kelsea shared a TikTok video showing the start of her relationship. The clip was a throwback to January 7, 2023, when she was getting ready for her first date with him.

She shared a video with the caption, “Happy weekend! Here’s a video I sent to my best friend before my first date with Chase.”

Kelsea Ballerini showcased her outfit in a video set to her song “How Do I Do This,” which details the experience of going on a first date after a long time.

“Here’s the look, with the boots” Kelsea said while checking herself out in a full-length mirror.

She turned to show off her hairstyle – half up, half down – and explained, “I’m using this hair clip to try and look trendy.”

She kept talking to a friend, telling them, “He’s coming to get me and we’re going to get sushi. I’ll call you tomorrow with all the details.”

She took a deep breath, raised a finger, and with newfound confidence, told herself, “I can do this. I can do this.”

After a little playful movement, she explained that a date is simply a chance to have a meal and chat about your life. She reassured him, “It’s nothing to worry about!”

Kelsea was surprised and delighted when Chase unexpectedly met her at the airport. Both of them shared sweet videos and photos of the heartwarming reunion online.

The couple only had eyes for one another at a Venice Film Festival event.

While in NYC to perform on TODAY, the singer scheduled in a date night with her No. 1 fan.

Kelsea shared on the show that she appreciates Chase’s support and understanding, describing him as a truly wonderful person.

To celebrate Kelsea’s 30th birthday on September 12, 2023, Chase shared a collection of photos and videos of the Grammy-nominated singer.

“Dirty 30 looks pretty damn good on you ballerini,” he captioned the series. “i love you.”

The couple had a memorable celebration for Kelsea’s birthday, making a striking appearance together on the red carpet at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards.
