Check Out What The Parent Trap Cast Is Up to Now

In the process of creating the next installment of “Freaky Friday“, director Nisha Ganatra came up with an exceptionally exceptional concept.

Instead of just planning for Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis to reunite in the upcoming film “Freaky Friday” sequel, which is set 22 years after the original success – Ganatra also contacted his old friend Elaine Hendrix to check if she was interested in a little reunion.

At the New York City premiere of our joint project on July 22, as I chatted with Will Marfuggi from TopMob News, I gleefully shared my history of collaborations with her. She casually reached out to me, saying something like, “Hey, fancy joining us for a bit of fun?” Naturally, I didn’t hesitate and swiftly asked where and when I should be there!

27 years after Lindsay Lohan played the twin characters Annie and Hallie in “The Parent Trap” (1998), she appeared in a cameo role in “Freaky Friday” as an editor for a magazine that one of Lohan’s Anna Coleman character’s mentors is featured in.

Or, more casually:
Lindsay Lohan, who played twins Annie and Hallie in “The Parent Trap” (1998), made a cameo as a magazine editor in “Freaky Friday”, where one of her character’s mentors is highlighted.

Hendrix remarked about Lohan, “There’s a unique bond between us, yet she’s no longer the young girl I once knew. She’s grown and transformed, which made it feel like ‘I recognize you, but hold on—you’ve changed now.’ It was truly delightful to reestablish our connection.

Working on the body-swap comedy provided us with opportunities to share memories, engage in small activities, and simply keep each other updated, as Hendrix explained. It was truly enjoyable.

In simpler terms, they have progressed significantly since the time when Meredith Blake, Hendrix’s tough-talking publicist who was about to marry Nick (Dennis Quaid), threatened, “I vow to make your lives wretched from the moment I say ‘I do’.

Living in Dubai with husband Bader Shammas and their 2-year-old son Luai, Hendrix shared with Entertainment Weekly that they both lead busy lives. However, through social media and messaging, they manage to stay connected, which is really sweet. I’m thrilled for her and the stage she’s at in her life.

Not only Lohan, but several other stars from “The Parent Trap” have moved forward with their own fairy-tale endings. Why not take a peek at what the cast is up to these days?

Following her debut as twins Annie and Hallie in a significant role, Lindsay Lohan eventually rose to become one of the most prominent young actresses in Hollywood, known for films like Freaky Friday, Mean Girls, Just My Luck, and A Prairie Home Companion.

Following two DUI incidents in 2007 and a spell in rehab, Lohan departed Hollywood – after portraying Elizabeth Taylor in the 2012 Lifetime film “Liz & Dick” and appearing in “The Canyons” in 2013 – and relocated to London before eventually settling in Dubai. Subsequently, she embarked on an entrepreneurial journey by opening two nightclubs in Greece, and later made a return to the spotlight with her own MTV reality show, “Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club”. This series ran for only one season, mirroring the brief run of her previous reality series, “Lindsay”, on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN. Additionally, she served as a judge on Australia’s adaptation of “The Masked Singer”.

Last April, Lohan kick-started her musical comeback by unveiling the pop track titled “Back to Me”. This release marked a significant milestone as it was nearly 16 years since she first introduced herself to the music scene with her debut album, “Speak”, in the year of 2004.

In the year 2022, she resumed acting with her appearance in Netflix’s “Falling For Christmas”. This was followed by “Irish Wish” in 2024. To satisfy her fans, the former Disney star reprised her role from “Freaky Friday” for the 2025 film titled “Freakier Friday”, co-starring Jamie Lee Curtis.

As a die-hard admirer, I can’t contain my excitement! Guess who just added a new title to their life’s trophy case? None other than the incredible Lindsay! In the blissful month of July 2023, she and her wonderful husband Bader Shammas welcomed their precious baby boy, Luai, into the world. What a joyous occasion for them both!

Dennis Quaid was a popular leading man in Hollywood even before “The Parent Trap,” and he continued to shine in successful films such as “Frequency,” “The Day After Tomorrow,” and “Far From Heaven.” More recently, he appeared in the Paramount+ series “Happy Face” and the 2024 Oscar-nominated movie “The Substance.” Additionally, Quaid is the frontman for the band Dennis Quaid and The Sharks, which has been active since 2000.

As a dedicated follower, I’m sharing some personal history about Dennis Quaid. Back in 2000, he parted ways with Meg Ryan after nearly a decade of marriage. They have a son named Jack together. Later, in 2004, he tied the knot with real estate agent Kimberly Buffington. Their union produced fraternal twins Thomas and Zoe in 2007. However, they faced two separations in 2012, reconciled in 2013, but eventually ended their relationship for good in 2016, with their divorce being finalized in 2018.

Fast forward to October 2019, Dennis got engaged to Laura Savoie. They decided to elope secretly in June 2020 after initially postponing their April wedding due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Following the engagement news, the actor defended his relationship with Laura and the 40-year age gap, saying it didn’t bother them at all.

As a lifestyle aficionado, let me shed some light on the captivating journey of Elaine Hendrix! Following her remarkable portrayal as the sharp-tongued Meredith Blake in “The Parent Trap” and the mean girl role in “Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion” back in 1997, she truly left an indelible mark!

Post the success of these movies, Hendrix graced our screens on FX’s “Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll,” and made appearances on “90210” and “Anger Management.” In 2019, she slipped into the iconic heels of Alexis Carrington for The CW’s reboot of “Dynasty.” Additionally, Hendrix was part of the cast in “A New York Story” in 2019 and teamed up with Lohan once more for “Freakier Friday.”

Beyond her acting prowess, Hendrix is a passionate advocate for animal rights. She founded The Pet Matchmaker, an organization that rescues animals and works tirelessly to find them loving homes. What a true inspiration!

Following her role as the amusing and nurturing nanny Chessy in Hallie, Lisa Ann Walter proceeded to act in films such as Bruce Almighty, Shall We Dance?, and War of the Worlds, and has made guest appearances on Grey’s Anatomy, GLOW, The Odd Couple, and numerous other television series.

This version retains the original meaning while making it more conversational and easier to read.

In 2011, the comedian published her memoir titled “The Best Thing About My Behind Is That It’s Behind Me“. From that year until 2014, she hosted her own talk radio show, “The Lisa Ann Walter Show,” on KFI in Los Angeles.

Regardless of portraying adversaries in the movie, Walter and Hendrix have maintained a strong friendship, with Walter expressing to Vanity Fair, “Elaine is like family. She knows all my children, and we don’t need anyone else. We have each other. Elaine has become my sister; I consider her one of mine.

Lately, Walter has gained significant recognition for portraying the character of Melissa Schemmenti, an unconventional teacher, in the award-winning show “Abbott Elementary”.

Following his endearing portrayal as the cherished butler Martin in Elizabeth, Annie, and Chessy’s household, Simon Kunz subsequently made appearances in popular UK shows such as Midsomer Murders, Sherlock, and The Last Kingdom. Additionally, he secured a minor role in the blockbuster film Captain America: The First Avenger.

More recently, he’s had small roles in F1: The Movie, Jericho Ridge and Rose’s War

In a strict and organized manner, Polly Holliday played the role of Marva Sr. at Camp Walden. However, she is also recognized for her lively portrayal on the popular 1970s television show titled “Alice”.

Following “The Parent Trap,” additional legendary movies like “Stick It” and “The Heartbreak Kid” were released, along with appearances on TV shows such as “Home Improvement” and “The Client.

In the year 2000, Holliday received recognition in the Alabama Stage and Screen Hall of Fame. Moreover, she has garnered a total of four Emmy nominations.

Come on now, most people recognize Maggie Wheeler primarily from her role as Janice on Friends. However, you might find it surprising to know that she initially auditioned for the part of Monica!

Wheeler, known for portraying Marva Jr., one half of the mother-daughter team managing Camp Walden, boasts a long list of TV appearances, including roles in “ER,” “Friday Night Lights,” and “Shameless.” Additionally, she has lent her voice to shows like “Archer,” various animated Batman productions, and the 2019 version of “The Addams Family.

Since 1990, she has been in a marital bond with Daniel Borden Wheeler, and they share two beautiful kids as their offspring.

Known as one of Tinseltown’s thriving female directors, Nancy Meyers is a prominent figure in the realm of romantic comedies, often referred to as its ruling monarchs.

In her role as director, scriptwriter, and producer, she took charge of successful films such as “What Women Want,” “Something’s Gotta Give,” “The Holiday,” “It’s Complicated” (which garnered a Golden Globe nomination for Best Picture: Musical or Comedy), and “The Intern.” Her work has sparked decor, lifestyle, and romantic aspirations in many. In 2017, she served as the producer of “Home Again,” a film written and directed by her daughter.

On Instagram, Meyers regularly posts sneak peeks from her successful movies and in February 2020, she wrote a widely popular essay for ‘Modern Love’ about her post-divorce relationship with her former husband Charles Shyer. Unfortunately, he passed away in December 2024.

By 2023, she had initiated a romantic comedy series for Netflix, yet prior to its completion, the streaming service and the director decided to terminate their collaboration.

Prior to directing and writing the 2017 romantic comedy “Home Again,” which featured Reese Witherspoon, Hallie Meyers-Shyer frequently appeared in her mother’s movies, such as “What Women Want” and “Father of the Bride.” She even starred alongside Lindsay Lohan in “The Parent Trap” as one of Annie’s fellow camp companions.

Fun fact: Her sister’s name is Annie, and Lohan’s twin characters were named after the siblings.

She and partner Ophir Tanz welcomed son Julien Benedict in April 2021.

You might not have realized that “The Vampire Diaries” actress, Kat Graham, made a brief appearance in a movie. She played one of Annie’s friends at summer camp in her initial prominent screen role. Later on, Graham shared with InStyle that she still owns the camp shirt from filming.

Apart from portraying Bonnie on TVD, Graham has also acted in films such as 17 Again, How It Ends, Operation Christmas Drop, Tyler Perry’s Duplicity, and lent her voice to April O’Neill in the animated series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

In the year 2023, she tied the knot with her long-standing companion, Bryant Wood. Notably, Bryant, along with Graham and Frank Elaridi, co-founded the wellness company known as Modern Nirvana.

The boy at camp, who was surprisingly the only one there, was portrayed by none other than Michael Lohan Jr., Lindsay Lohan’s actual brother!

After making an appearance on the reality show “Living Lohan”, which focused on his well-known family, he transitioned into becoming a businessman following his graduation from Ithaca College. In the year 2017, he tied the knot with Nina Ginsberg. Their daughter, Isabel Scarlet, was born in the year 2021.
