Many fans of Chicago Med have hoped for a romantic connection between Hannah Asher and Dean Archer, but the latest episode suggests they work better as friends and co-parents. While the characters have become close over several seasons, a romantic relationship isn’t the right path for them.
The news still feels right, even after Chicago Med season 11 revealed Hannah and Archer are expecting a baby. Their one-night stand led to the pregnancy, and they’ve decided to raise the child together. As close friends, they both want to be involved, and Archer is committed to supporting Hannah and their baby. However, a romantic relationship between them wouldn’t be a good idea.
Hannah & Archer Disagree Over How To Handle Her Pregnancy
The Tension Between The 2 Characters Is At An All-Time High
NBC
In the fifth episode of Chicago Med season 11, Archer goes with Hannah to a doctor’s appointment. When the doctor asks if they want to find out the baby’s gender, Hannah says she’d prefer to be surprised. Archer jokes that they’ve already had plenty of surprises, but Hannah is firm about wanting to wait until the baby is born to learn if it’s a boy or a girl.
Hannah’s doctor told her and Archer that the ultrasound showed a slightly higher-than-usual measurement of fluid at the back of the baby’s neck. Archer worried this could indicate a potential chromosomal or genetic issue, but the doctor reassured them that Hannah’s blood tests were normal and there was no current cause for concern.
Archer is clearly concerned, and the doctor suggests an amniocentesis to get more information. However, Hannah strongly opposes the idea. As an OB/GYN, she feels confident in her own judgment and believes the test is unnecessary. This disagreement creates tension between her and Archer throughout the rest of the Chicago Med episode.
The latest episode of Chicago Med season 11 ends with Hannah and Archer having a fight. Hannah gets upset with Archer for overthinking things and tells him he doesn’t need to be involved in every decision, even something like finding out the baby’s gender. She walks away, implying they both need some time apart.
Chicago Med Season 11, Episode 5 Demonstrates Why Hannah & Archer Can’t Be A Couple
They Don’t Work Well Together
NBC
The arguments Hannah and Archer had in season 11, episode 5 of Chicago Med over her pregnancy clearly show they aren’t compatible as a couple. Their intense disagreement so early on suggests things will only become more difficult if they continue to date, and a relationship would likely create even more problems.
Hannah and Archer are already facing challenges as they navigate co-parenting as friends, and fans have wondered what would happen if their relationship became romantic – perhaps in season 11 or beyond of Chicago Med. The good news is, the tension between them could be easily solved if they simply improved their communication.
Healthy relationships rely on good communication, and Hannah and Archer really struggle with that. They’ve never been able to talk openly with each other, which needs to improve now that they’re having a baby. Becoming good friends and co-parents is possible, but taking their relationship further will be a bigger challenge.
Hannah and Archer have a chance to resolve their conflict and rebuild their friendship as they prepare for their baby on the next season of Chicago Med. However, a romantic relationship between them doesn’t seem likely. Recent events, particularly in episode 5, have made it clear that they’re better off as friends.
How Hannah & Archer’s Conflict Will Affect Their Relationship In Season 11
They’re Still Having A Baby Together
NBC
After the argument between Hannah and Archer on Chicago Med’s latest episode, it’s obvious they need to resolve some things. Archer’s issues – being stubborn and difficult – aren’t a surprise, but Hannah might be upset about something we don’t yet know.
Hannah and Archer need to work through their issues on the One Chicago show. If they don’t resolve their conflict, it will impact not only their relationship, but also their child. Their disagreements will definitely change how they interact with each other, both professionally and personally.
Considering Hannah and Archer are having trouble maintaining their friendship, a romance between them doesn’t seem likely in the near future – and it would probably cause even more problems. For now, they need to concentrate on co-parenting their child, as seen in season 11 of Chicago Med.
