Chris Martin wants fans to only dream of para-para-paradise at his shows.
Approximately a month after the allegations against ex-CEO Andy Byron of Astronomer, concerning an affair with the company’s HR head, who avoided camera attention at Coldplay’s concert during “The Jumbotron Song,” the lead vocalist of the band clarified their decision to keep that part intact.
During the August 19th performance of their Music of the Spheres World Tour in Kingston upon Hull, Chris clarified to fans that what they were seeing was not a traditional kiss-cam. He explained that they had briefly labeled one couple as such, but it would not continue to be referred to as a kiss-cam permanently.
He clarified, “This is what we refer to as a large screen display, often used in public places. We’ve been doing this for quite a while now. Occasionally, the individuals we select to greet turn out to be involved in significant scandals on an international scale, yes, that happens. However, most of the time, our intention is simply to say hello to some people, nothing more. Frankly, all this commotion.
In January of last year, our band introduced an engaging segment in Singapore where Chris would spontaneously compose lyrics about audience members displayed on a colossal screen. Personally, I can say that this has been a crowd favorite and we’re not planning to phase it out any time soon as we continue to delight our fans with this unique experience.
The singer expressed to the audience during their English show that life gives us challenges like lemons, but we must turn them into something positive, like lemonade. Therefore, we’ll continue to persevere and face these hurdles because it’s an opportunity to connect with amazing people like you.
As the music started playing, he jokingly warned, “For those who might end up making headlines globally, kindly step out of sight.
Regardless, the artist known for singing “Sky Full of Stars” expresses good wishes towards his colleagues. In essence, he conveyed to the crowd, “In any case, we send out heartfelt love to those individuals.
At the Foxborough, Massachusetts concert last month, as Chris was performing, Andy and Kristin Cabot were noticed getting close on the Jumbotron. When they leaned in together, the “Paradise” singer jokingly commented, “Either they’re in a relationship or they’re just very modest.
Apologetically, he acknowledged that perhaps he might have inadvertently caused offense, expressing his concern aloud as, “Oh dear, I genuinely hope we haven’t done anything wrong.
Four days post that internet-shattering scandal, I couldn’t help but feel compelled to step down from my position as CEO, having been at the heart of all the buzz and controversy.
The company, in a statement dated July 18, emphasized that its astronomers uphold the principles and traditions that have been integral since the organization’s inception. Furthermore, they noted that their leaders should serve as role models in terms of behavior and responsibility.
Continue on to discover that despite their efforts, Andy and Kristin couldn’t manage to stay unnoticed during the Coldplay concert.
On a thrilling summer night at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on July 15th, as I stood amongst thousands of fans, my heart pounded with anticipation. When Coldplay’s charismatic frontman, Chris Martin, took center stage, my eyes locked onto the jumbotron. In that electrifying moment, he spotted two incredible individuals who appeared to have materialized from one another’s embrace. I could feel the magic in the air as they were caught in a shared gaze, immortalized on the giant screen before our very eyes.
Martin informed the gathering earlier that they would utilize their cameras for the event. So, as you look at the screens, we’ll scan and greet whoever is present. To start off, a young man received an unexpected “Happy Birthday” wish from Martin himself.
The singer pointed out, ‘Here are these two,’ as the shot momentarily focused on a warm-looking duo. However, the man suddenly moved away and the woman, with her hands shielding her face, abruptly faced away from the camera.
Martin joked that perhaps they’re secretly dating, or maybe they’re simply very reserved. He admitted he wasn’t certain how to proceed.
After the woman moved from her spot, vanishing beyond those nearby, the singer exclaimed, “Oh dear me! I trust we haven’t acted inappropriately.
The incident was recorded on video by attendee Grace Springer for future reference, and by the end of the evening, online detectives successfully identified the suspicious duo as CEO Andy Byron and Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot from Astronomer. Quickly following this revelation, users on platforms such as TikTok and X uncovered that both Byron and Cabot were already married to others.
Not long after, Martin inquired from the newly-appeared duo on the screen, “Alright, could I ask, are the two of you an item? Are you two genuinely dating?
It’s been recently revealed that Byron and Cabot, who used to work together, attended a Coldplay concert together. This unexpected encounter sparked internet buzz with no official word yet from either party involved. A supposed apology from Byron allegedly shared online turned out to be false as reported by Astronomer.
In different roles, Byron served as CEO for the data operations firm, Astronomer, which, despite its name, is unrelated to space exploration. On the other hand, Cabot held the position of the company’s Head of Human Resources.
Astronomer confirmed July 24 to NBC News that Cabot had resigned.
Since then, both individuals have removed their LinkedIn profiles, and various sources claim that Byron’s spouse has deactivated her Instagram and Facebook accounts. It is said that they share two sons together.
Cabot is married to Andrew Cabot, who is the sixth-generation heir of a rum distiller named Cabot and whose lineage traces back to the American Revolution, as reported by various sources. According to the Boston Globe, Andrew transitioned from a tech career to establish the spirits company in 2011. The couple also has two children together.
The firm Astronomer specializes in creating technology, and their product, Astro, is a unified platform for managing data pipelines. According to their website, this platform allows teams to construct, execute, and monitor data pipelines seamlessly, all within a single interface.
The company was established in the city of Cincinnati, Ohio, back in 2018. In addition, it maintains branches in the cities of San Francisco and San Jose, California.
Byron joined the company as CEO in 2023 and Cabot came onboard in 2024.
In May 2025, Bain Capital Ventures headed a Series D funding round that resulted in $93 million for Astronomer. At the time of this announcement by Astronomer, they stated this as part of their mission to establish a robust and enduring software firm, as reported by the New York Post.
The funding raised the firm’s valuation to $740 million, according to the Economic Times.
The astronomer announced on July 18 that the company’s board of directors launched an official inquiry regarding the issue, and they made it clear that the controversial statement attributed to Byron was fabricated, not genuine.
The company, comprised of astronomers, upholds the principles and traditions we’ve adhered to since our establishment,” they stated. “Our top executives are obligated to exemplify integrity and responsibility, leading by example.
As an utterly devoted admirer, let me share this intriguing detail: The statement highlighted that none of the other individuals spotted on the tragic jumbotron video, excluding the pair under scrutiny, were employees of Astronomer. Interestingly enough, the company later confirmed to the Associated Press that the woman with Byron in the video was indeed none other than the remarkable Cabot.
According to Pete DeJoy, co-founder and Chief Product Officer, Byron took a leave of absence from Astronomer starting July 18. DeJoy also assumed the role of interim CEO, and the following day, the company disclosed Byron’s resignation.
Andy Byron stepped down, and the Board agreed to this resignation. Now, they’ll start looking for our next CEO. Meanwhile, DeJoy will keep performing his expanded duties,” said Astronomer to TopMob News.
Over the past few days, our company, Astronomer, has garnered an extraordinary amount of media coverage that very few organizations – particularly startups within the data and AI sector in our humble corner of the world – typically experience. This unexpected limelight has felt strange and unreal for my team, but despite not seeking it under these circumstances, we have found ourselves becoming a well-known entity across households.
Martin couldn’t even begin to try to fix what happened, but he’s had some fun with it since.
At the recent Coldplay concert in Madison, Wisconsin’s Camp Randall Stadium, following the scandal on July 19, the lead singer reminded the audience that some of them could potentially appear on the large screen.
“So please,” Martin said, “if you haven’t done your makeup, do your makeup now.”
