Chris Pratt has starred in several popular films, including a remake that unexpectedly became a big success. But now, that movie is leaving Netflix.
Chris Pratt first became famous for his comedic roles on TV shows like Parks and Recreation. He then successfully transitioned into a major action star, appearing in popular films like Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World. Pratt is also a sought-after voice actor, lending his talent to blockbusters such as The Lego Movie and The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and he’s currently working on the sequel, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
The popular movie The Garfield Movie, which successfully brought the classic cartoon cat back to the big screen, will no longer be available on Netflix after March 21st. Good news for fans: a sequel is already planned! Chris Pratt has agreed to reprise his role as the voice of Garfield, and production is underway. While we don’t have a release date yet, more information about the sequel is expected soon. The first movie earned over $260 million worldwide, making a follow-up a sure thing.
The Garfield Movie surprised audiences with the introduction of Garfield’s long-lost father and follows the famously lazy cat as he’s unexpectedly thrown into a daring mission to rescue him. The film features a star-studded voice cast, including Snoop Dogg, the late Angus Cloud, Nicholas Hoult, Hannah Waddingham, and Samuel L. Jackson. While the movie proved successful for director Mark Dindal, critics and audiences had very different opinions – it received a 36% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but a much more positive 78% rating from general moviegoers.
I’ve been a fan of Garfield for ages! It all started back in 1978 when Jim Davis created the comic strip – I loved reading about that sarcastic, chubby orange cat, Jon, and of course, Odie. But it wasn’t just comics! Garfield jumped to the screen in 1982 with a TV special, and then had his own animated series, Garfield and Friends, which I used to watch on CBS from ’88 to ’94. And who could forget the live-action movies? Bill Murray was perfect as the voice of Garfield in both Garfield: The Movie (2004) and Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties (2006).
Chris Pratt also lends his voice to the upcoming animated film, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, scheduled for release on April 1, 2026. Fans are eagerly anticipating the movie and what adventures await Mario and his friends.
