Chris Pratt’s Hit Animated Reboot is Leaving Netflix (And There Are Just Days Left to Watch)

Chris Pratt is known for starring in many successful movies. He became a popular actor playing Star-Lord in the Marvel films, but he’s also had hits like the first three Jurassic World movies, The Lego Movie, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Now, one of those popular animated films is leaving Netflix shortly after a new series based on the same characters was announced.

The popular 2024 animated film, The Garfield Movie, will be removed from Netflix on March 21st, so fans have limited time to watch it online. While it wasn’t a favorite with critics (earning a 36% score on Rotten Tomatoes), the movie was a big financial success, earning $257 million despite a $60 million production cost, and audiences enjoyed it much more, giving it a 78% rating. Because of its box office performance, a sequel starring Chris Pratt as Garfield is already being planned.

The Garfield Movie Is Getting a Sequel (But Does the New Animated TV Show Impact That?)

Being a Garfield fan is exciting right now! Not only is a sequel to The Garfield Movie planned, but a brand new animated Garfield TV show is also coming soon. Paramount+ recently announced they’ve ordered a 2D-animated series with Lamorne Morris voicing the famous cat. Production is already underway.

Okay, so the new series is generating a lot of buzz, which naturally has people wondering what that means for the Garfield Movie sequel. We heard last year that a sequel was happening, with Chris Pratt set to reprise his role as the famously lazy cat and Mark Dindal likely returning to direct. But that’s been the last we’ve heard, honestly. The original Garfield Movie was clearly intended to kick off a whole franchise for Alcon Entertainment, and let’s face it, Garfield is popular. There’s definitely enough material and fan love out there to support both this new series and more movies. It feels like there’s room for Garfield to thrive on both TV and the big screen, which is good news for everyone.

What Else Is Leaving Netflix in March?

Besides The Garfield Movie, Netflix will be removing several popular titles this month. Titanic will no longer be available starting March 16th, and The Wild Robot and The Hurt Locker are also leaving later in March. Fortunately, Netflix is adding a lot of new movies and shows in March, so there’s still plenty to watch. You can find a complete list of what’s new on Netflix this month here.
