OK, so you’re Brad Pitt? That doesn’t impress Christina Applegate much.
In her new memoir, You With the Sad Eyes, released on March 3rd, the former Married…With Children actress reminisced about her short-lived 1989 relationship with the star of Fight Club.
In her book, Christina described their relationship starting as a long-time friendship. She remembered he would often visit her small house, and they’d have barbecues and spend time together, usually with friends.
Christina and the actor, who was eight years older, were friends at first. But when Christina was 17, she began to develop romantic feelings for him.
“One day, I took another look at Brad and thought, ‘Hmm,” she explained. “Apparently he did the same.”
Let me tell you about one of the most memorable nights for Christina and Brad! It was the 1989 MTV Music Awards, and honestly, Brad was the perfect gentleman. Christina has often shared how sweet he was – he even offered to pick up her mom, Nancy Priddy, and a friend of hers, who happened to be Lori Allison, Johnny Depp’s ex-wife. It really showed his considerate nature right from the start!
I remember Christina telling me she really needed to get to the theater early to practice how she’d present herself. She was so grateful that Brad went above and beyond to help – he actually drove to her house to pick up her mom and Lori Depp and make sure they all got to the theater safely. It was such a sweet thing for him to do!
The night was going so well, honestly, until Sebastian Bach, the singer from Skid Row, noticed Christina. That’s when things got interesting, to say the least!
I finally felt really confident and strong, and after the awards show, I ended up leaving with Sebastian Bach, not Brad Pitt,” the 54-year-old revealed. “It sounds terrible to say, but Brad hadn’t quite become a huge star yet. He wasn’t the Brad Pitt everyone fantasized about back then.”

Back then, Brad hadn’t yet become famous – his big break in Thelma & Louise wouldn’t come until 1991. Christina, on the other hand, was already well-known, having been playing her famous role in Married…With Children since 1987.
“Things went from bad to worse,” Christina explained. “Brad had to drive Mom and Lori home, and he was already upset. To make things even worse, he nearly got into a fight with a group of people at a gas station, and then he was really angry with me.”
As she put it, “We didn’t talk for many years after that.”
Even though it’s been years since the night that caused problems between them, Christina—who later wrote that she and Sebastian never actually dated—and Brad are now good friends.
She admitted that, looking back, she’d acted childishly, and while he’d deserved better treatment, it was time to let go of the hurt caused by her choosing another guy – the lead singer of Skid Row – over him.

They are definitely not getting back together. However, with all the recent interactions – birthday celebrations, affectionate hugs, and even a playful recreation of a romantic scene in a virtual performance of Fast Times at Ridgemont High – it feels like they’re just teasing everyone who hoped they’d reconcile.

It takes a certain level of confidence to playfully tease your ex on his own show. That’s exactly what Sarah did when she appeared on Jimmy Kimmel’s talk show to promote her new series, I Love You, America. She jokingly ribbed Jimmy about his wife, Molly Kimmel, saying, “It’s not fair! She gets the updated, more aware Jimmy. I only got the ‘Man Show’ Jimmy.”

Honestly, some people seemed more upset about this breakup than the couple themselves! When Anna—who is now married to Michael Barrett—learned that Pratt was going to marry Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2019, she surprisingly offered to perform the ceremony. She even sent a gift when their daughter, Lyla, was born in August 2020. A source told TopMob News that Anna was genuinely happy for her son, Jack, to have a little sister and that she was very supportive of the new family.

Their breakup could have easily led to disaster, but four years later, these HGTV stars are thriving. They’re successfully co-parenting their children, Taylor and Brayden, and continuing to renovate and revitalize homes for others.

Lenny Kravitz and his ex-wife, Zoë Kravitz’s mother, describe their relationship as a close, familial bond – what he called “best friends” in a 2013 interview with Oprah Winfrey. Despite their divorce and her subsequent marriage to and split from Jason Momoa in 2020, they maintain a happy, connected family dynamic. As Lenny put it, it’s a beautiful example of what’s possible when people prioritize connection.

Since announcing their split in 2020, the Dancing With the Stars co-host and her ex-husband, a former hockey player, have consistently shown they remain friendly.

They’ve continued to share vacations and holidays, and Ben has publicly praised his ex-partner, calling her “an amazing mother” in a 2016 interview with TopMob News.

Nina and Ian dated for three years before splitting up in 2013, but they stayed friends. The following year, Nina began dating Nikki Reed and they quickly got married. As a result, Nina became friends with Nikki, who is known for her role in the Twilight films.

The couple broke up in July 2016 after being together for five years. The singer later shared on Howard Stern’s radio show in October that she remained very close to her ex, describing him as both a former lover and a long-time friend.

Even years after The Office ended in 2013, the chemistry between its stars remained apparent, and Mindy Kaling understands why fans still hope they’d become a couple. In a 2019 interview with Good Housekeeping, she explained that while choosing him to be a godparent to her children, she’d feel the same way if she were an outside observer. However, she clarified that their relationship has evolved into something deeper than just friendship – they’re now like family.

After their divorce was finalized in 2011, the former couple easily continued to raise their son, Bronx. The Fall Out Boy singer has praised his ex-wife, calling her a fantastic mother.

Looks like she’s moved on from those past rumors! The singer from Jonas Brothers recently mentioned he and his ex are on good terms. He described their connection as simply being friendly and having a positive relationship.

Bruce Willis and Demi Moore are famously friendly exes, and their daughters – Rumer, Tallulah, and Scout – have helped them maintain that closeness. So, it wasn’t surprising when they decided to quarantine together in Idaho during the pandemic. Maybe they even had a few dance parties!

Even four years after their 2014 divorce, Jennifer Lopez continued to praise her ex-husband, Marc Anthony, the father of her twins, Max and Emme. In a 2018 interview on Sunday Today, she explained that Marc had significantly boosted her confidence during their marriage. He constantly reminded her of her talent, telling her, ‘You’re a great singer. Don’t ever let anybody tell you you’re not.’ Lopez shared that she deeply respected him and considered him one of the greatest singers ever.

I’ve always admired how supportive she is of her ex-husband, even when things are tough for him. It’s amazing to me that, despite their divorce, they’ve managed to maintain a really positive relationship. She actually said herself, years after their split in 2010, that it was one of the better divorces out there! And honestly, seeing how well they co-parent their daughter, Coco, is really heartwarming. They truly seem to prioritize their child’s happiness above everything else.

He also explained to the magazine that relationships evolve, and that even though he and his ex-wife are no longer together, they can still care for each other.

Oh my gosh, even after they split up in 2012, they were so good at pretending everything was okay for the kids! I remember Jada talking to Howard Stern in 2014, and she was like, ‘Will and I are still really close friends.’ It was amazing. She totally downplayed it all, saying she didn’t see their ten years together as a failure, and that relationships are just… hard. I just always thought they were perfect, and she made it sound like everything was still okay, you know? It was honestly so admirable how they prioritized the kids, even when things were clearly tough.

The Grammy-winning artist and her ex-husband, who officially divorced in January 2024, have maintained a friendly relationship while raising their son, Hayes. They even live only five minutes apart, making it easy to share parenting responsibilities.
