Netflix has released a first trailer and some preview images for its new drama, Unchosen, featuring Christopher Eccleston (known for Doctor Who) and Siobhan Finneran (from Happy Valley).
The drama, written by Julie Gearey of Coronation Street, also stars Molly Windsor (She Said), Asa Butterfield (Sex Education), and Fra Fee (Prime Target), all of whom appear in the newly released trailer and images.
The trailer shows Mr. Phillips, played by Eccleston, telling his religious community they are fortunate to live where they do, emphasizing that love unites them and helps families thrive. However, some of the violent behavior shown in the trailer suggests this isn’t entirely true.
Phillips also strongly supports the community’s traditional expectations for men and women, and frequently warns against the dangers of people and ideas from outside the group.

Rosie lives with her husband and daughter in a secluded Christian community. When a runaway prisoner named Sam enters their lives, Rosie begins to question the true nature of her community and whether it’s really looking out for her best interests.

As her marriage falls apart, Sam seems to offer a way out. However, with a hidden criminal history, it’s unclear whether the real threat comes from the dangerous cult or from Sam himself.

In the six-episode psychological thriller, Windsor and Butterfield star as husband and wife, Rosie and Adam. Fee plays the character of Sam, and Eccleston and Finneran portray another married couple, Mr. and Mrs. Phillips.

Jim Loach, who directed ‘Criminal Record,’ and Philippa Langdale, known for ‘A Discovery of Witches,’ directed the series. It will be released soon, but a specific date hasn’t been announced yet.

Recently, Eccleston appeared in the fourth season of True Detective and the film Young Woman and the Sea. Finneran, meanwhile, was in the ITV series Protection and made a guest appearance on this year’s Death in Paradise.
