Christopher Nolan’s movie adaptation of The Odyssey, known for its impressive cast, experiences a change as Cosmo Jarvis, renowned from Shogun, has to withdraw due to scheduling conflicts. He will instead lead the biopic Young Stalin, focusing on Joseph Stalin’s life. Deadline reports that Jarvis left The Odyssey just before filming began. Luckily, a replacement has already been found, with Prometheus and Upgrade actor Logan Marshall-Green stepping into the role.
For the very first time in his career, Marshall-Green will join forces with Nolan on this project. At present, details about the role Marshall-Green is portraying remain secret.
Next summer, the movie adaptation of “The Odyssey” will be premiering in cinemas. This is the first film ever to be completely filmed using IMAX cameras. The story is inspired by Homer’s epic poem, with Matt Damon playing the role of Odysseus, a character who embarks on an extraordinary journey as he navigates his way back from the Trojan War. Tom Holland takes on the role of Telemachus, Odysseus’ son, in this star-studded cast that also includes Jon Bernthal, Charlize Theron, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, and others.
Even though the movie is yet more than a year off, Universal has already shared some promotional content. A sneak peek trailer was attached to showings of Jurassic World Rebirth (not officially released online as of now). Additionally, the first poster for Odyssey has been revealed.
According to the report’s language, it appears that Jarvis departed from “The Odyssey” before filming began, which is hopeful since any complications arising from this change were addressed early. With “The Odyssey” being a large-scale production with numerous components, even minor hiccups like actor changes could have consequences depending on the timing. Luckily, there’s no indication that “The Odyssey” experienced any delays. Marshall-Green has been linked to the film for some time, and his casting is only being announced now. It’s unfortunate that Jarvis had to withdraw, but Marshall-Green is a versatile actor who has worked in multiple genres throughout his career. He should seamlessly join Nolan’s ambitious plan for “The Odyssey”.
It’s intriguing to find out which character from Greek mythology or one of Penelope’s suitors Dylan Marshall-Green might be playing in the upcoming movie. Given the rich tapestry of characters available, it could go either way. For now, we’ll have to wait for more details about his role as not much has been revealed yet. The production team is keeping most aspects of the film under wraps, and there seems to be no urgency for a major marketing push at this time.
