Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere‘s lives are coming full circle.
Thirty years after their parents – a famous supermodel and the actor known for Pretty Woman – divorced, Kaia Gerber and Homer Gere are now working together. They’re both starring in a new show called The Shards, created by Ryan Murphy.
Oh my gosh, you guys, I just saw Kaia and Homer on set in LA yesterday! They’re filming the series based on Bret Easton Ellis’s new book – you know, the one set in 1981 with all those high school friends? I’m SO excited, I’ve been following the updates forever and it’s finally happening!
Cindy Crawford’s daughter, Kaia Gerber, channeled 1980s fashion with a red outfit and big, curly hair. Her half-brother, Homer, Richard Gere’s stepson, looked sharp in a black suit and sunglasses.
The two children looked just like their parents, who first connected through friends in 1988 and then ran off to Las Vegas to get married in 1991.
Richard, 76, and Cindy, 59, were a famous couple, even being named People magazine’s Sexiest Couple Alive in 1993. However, they divorced in 1995, and Cindy later said the difference in their ages played a role in the split.
In a 2013 interview on Oprah’s Master Class, she explained that when she was with Ricard, she was only 22 years old. She was still discovering her identity and future goals at that age, while he, at 37, understood she was still evolving and changing.
The model—who is also mom to son Presley Gerber—added that she “didn’t wanna hear it from him.”
She went on to explain that when you’re 22, you often feel like you have all the answers. You believe you’ve already become the person you’re going to be, but then, a decade later, you often realize your parents or others were right all along.
She explained that when she was 22, she was happy to simply go along with things. But as she’s grown, she’s realized she wants to take the lead sometimes, and collaborate with others at other times.
Kaia understands the difficulties of dating someone older, having experienced unhealthy patterns in her own relationships with age differences.
She admitted on the Therapuss podcast in October that she’d completely change who she was – even her core beliefs – for a partner. She explained that she often dated older men and was ready to sacrifice anything to make the relationship work.
Kaia, who has dated both Austin Butler and Pete Davidson, realized she was trying to prove her love by completely sacrificing her own needs and identity. She now understands that this doesn’t create a healthy relationship built on respect and trust. In fact, it backfires, because her partners preferred the version of her who didn’t fully express herself.

Although the dresses are quite distinct, they share a common thread: both feature red tones and attractive patterns, suggesting the Gerber women have similar fashion preferences.
It’s in their genes, duh.

Gerber looks like the spitting image of her mother in this black sleek dress.
We know they are wearing matching robes, but even if they weren’t they’d still look like twins.
What’s better than a jumpsuit? Wearing matching jumpsuits while relaxing with your BFF, obviously.
Gerber and Crawford both opt for leather jackets when in NYC and we love their style.
It’s likely because they’re both holding the same breed of dog, but this picture shows a lot of shared characteristics.
Matching outfits don’t always mean wearing the same colors! Back in 2015, Gerber and her mom showed this perfectly. Gerber wore a black leather jacket with blue jeans, and her mom wore a white leather jacket with dark-wash jeans – they looked coordinated even though their outfits weren’t identical.
I noticed way back in 2014 that Gerber was already showing signs of inheriting her mom’s style! She wore a really striking printed outfit that immediately reminded me of the amazing dress her mom wore to the same event – it was like a sweet nod to her mother’s iconic look.
