The highly anticipated second season of the action-packed spy series Citadel is on its way! A new trailer reveals exciting glimpses of what’s to come and when viewers can expect it. The first season, which premiered in 2023, introduced a world full of secret agents and double-crossers, and explored a fascinating premise: what if a top spy lost their memory?
Still thinking about what happens next? Get a glimpse of the action with the brand new trailer for Citadel Season 2! Amazon has revealed the trailer and announced the series will return on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. All seven episodes will be available to stream on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories. You can watch the trailer below.
If you recall, Citadel is an action-packed spy series that takes place around the world. It centers on Mason Kane, Nadia Sinh (played by Priyanka Chopra Jonas), and Bernard Orlick – highly skilled agents who worked for an independent spy agency that was secretly taken down by Manticore, a dangerous organization supported by some of the world’s wealthiest and most influential families.
Three years after the events of the first season, Season 2 kicks off with a frightening new danger forcing our heroes back into the field. The trailer shows them building a team of unexpected allies and embarking on a worldwide mission to uncover a conspiracy that could change everything for humanity. Expect big action sequences, surprising twists, and a larger cast of intriguing characters, where no one can be fully trusted, and the danger is greater than ever.
In addition to stars Madden, Chopra Jonas, and Tucci, Lesley Manville and Ashleigh Cummings are back for this season. The return of Citadel also brings new faces, including Jack Reynor as Hutch, Matt Berry as Franke Sharpe, and Lina El Arabi as Celine, expanding the show’s cast.

Okay, so heading into Season 2 of Citadel, the directing duo behind some of the biggest Avengers films, Anthony and Joe Russo, are still very much involved – both as executive producers, and with Joe actually directing some episodes alongside showrunner David Weil and Greg Yaitanes. And let’s not forget, Season 1 was a huge investment – reports put the cost somewhere between $250 and $300 million for just six episodes, making it one of the most expensive TV shows ever created. It’s clear Amazon is betting big on this franchise.
Despite being a global streaming success, the first season of Citadel received mixed reactions from critics and viewers. Its scores on Rotten Tomatoes – 51% from critics and 62% from audiences – show that a large budget doesn’t guarantee positive reviews. Season 2 seems to be heavily relying on the appeal of star Stanley Tucci, and we’ll find out in just a few weeks if his charisma can improve the show’s performance.
