SUNSOFT, along with publishers Clouded Leopard Entertainment and developer Red Art Studios, is bringing back the classic 1990 PC Engine action game, City Hunter. The updated version will be available on February 26, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam, and will be released worldwide.
Here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page:
About
As a huge fan, I’m so excited to finally see this game again! It originally came out way back on March 2nd, 1990 for the PC Engine, and it was the *only* official game released for that system. After 35 years, it’s finally getting a worldwide release, and it’s awesome that fans everywhere can play it at the same time!
This game isn’t simply a re-release; it brilliantly blends the charm of the original with fresh, modern elements. Thanks to support for multiple languages, both veteran players and newcomers can fully immerse themselves in the game, regardless of their language.
Relive the excitement and emotional moments once more.

Story
I’m Ryo Saeba, but most people know me as City Hunter. I work as a professional problem-solver – you could say I ‘sweep’ problems under the rug.
I handle a wide range of jobs, everything from providing protection to carrying out assassinations. Essentially, I eliminate the worst elements of the city. This makes my life constantly dangerous. My partner, Kaori, is my late best friend’s sister, but she doesn’t usually bring me worthwhile assignments.
So, what kind of work is waiting for me today?
