Firaxis recently shared their plans for Civilization 7 on Steam, announcing they’ll be adding a feature that fans have been asking for for a long time.
As a huge fan, I’m so excited about this new feature! It basically lets you pick a civilization at the very beginning and play as them for the entire game, seeing their unique story all the way through. It’s a dream come true!
If you’re new to Civilization 7, it features an ‘Ages’ system where you pick a different civilization to lead each time you advance to a new era. But with an upcoming update, you’ll be able to stick with the civilization you initially chose for the entire game.

There isn’t a confirmed release date for this feature yet. Firaxis explained in their announcement that they’re still testing how to best add it to the game.
They’re currently testing a new feature that lets players pick any civilization and play as them from the very beginning of the game all the way to the modern era, without needing to switch civilizations as you progress through the ages.
Firaxis intends to bring back a popular feature from previous Civilization games, allowing players to enjoy it once again.
Unlike previous games with defined Ages, each civilization in Civilization 7 will progress at its own pace, reflecting its historical timeline.

How this Update will Potentially Get Implemented into the Game
Firaxis hasn’t explained how this feature will function, simply asking players to keep in mind that everything is still subject to change.
They’re also asking players to contribute to the design of Civilization 7. They’ll be launching the Firaxis Feature Workshop in a few months to gather feedback and ideas.
It lets a small group of people try out new features while they’re still being built.
This allows Firaxis to collect valuable feedback from players, helping them create the best possible Civilization 7 game.

I’m still waiting on the specifics, but the devs said to keep an eye on their Discord – they’ll drop more info with the next update. I’m hoping it’s something awesome!
The developers have detailed the new features coming in the 1.3.0 update, which will be available on November 3rd.
