Claire Danes Reveals Name of Third Baby After 2 Years

Claire Danes is giving a peek inside her homeland.

Two years after welcoming their third child, actress Claire Danes shared some sweet details about her family, including the name of her daughter: Shay. Her husband is actor Hugh Dancy.

Claire described how much she enjoys watching toddlers dance. On the January 27th episode of Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast, she explained that her daughter, Shay, often does a dreamy, head-swaying dance, which Claire finds delightful.

The 46-year-old described her 2-year-old daughter – whose name she hadn’t shared before – as “really fun.”

But while Shay loves dancing, her big brother Cyrus, 13, isn’t the biggest fan.

The actress, who also shares a 7-year-old son named Rowan with Hugh, said turning 13 felt like gaining a superpower with her oldest son. Even a small, public embarrassment is enough to make him instantly mortified, giving her a unique ability to quickly embarrass him.

Besides dancing with her kids, Claire enjoys dedicating her free time to them. She even got really into embroidery for a period and began sewing clothes for her children.

I always loved making personalized onesies for my kids, and I did for each of them…at least, I tried to. With my third, Shay, I just ran out of energy before I could finish hers. I actually have one still waiting to be completed, but she’s grown out of onesies now, so I feel like I’ve missed my opportunity to make it special for her.

Claire told Amy, “I’m confessing. I’m actually confessing to you. It’s by my bed, half-done.” 

The actress, known for her role in Beast in Me, confessed she wasn’t ready for her third child. She said she was completely shocked and panicked when she found out she was pregnant with Shay at age 44.

“I called my OBGYN in convulsive tears,” she said. “It was all meltdown.” 

Claire, now a mom of three, admitted her recent pregnancy was a complete surprise. She said, ‘It wasn’t planned at all, and I honestly didn’t think it was even possible at my age.’
