I’m so excited! One of my favorite PS2 games is getting a re-release on PS5 and PS4 next week! Sony’s been slowly bringing over PS2 classics since they launched PlayStation Plus Premium, and it’s been awesome seeing titles like TimeSplitters, Siren, Summoner, Mister Mosquito, and all the Sly Cooper games make a comeback. Now, another gem from the PS2 era is joining the fun, and I can’t wait to play it again!
On November 18th, the classic game Tomb Raider: Anniversary will be available on current PlayStation consoles. This is a remake of the original Tomb Raider game from 1996, and it was very popular when it first came out. It’s been released on many platforms over the years, including the PS3 in 2011. This new release for PS5 and PS4 is based on the PS2 version of the game, not the PS3 edition.
Sony announced back in early 2025 that Tomb Raider: Anniversary was coming to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, but didn’t give a specific date, only saying it would be released sometime before the end of the year. Now, we know the game will be available on November 18th, finally answering fans’ questions.

Sony hasn’t shared any details about what’s new or improved in this version of Tomb Raider: Anniversary. Usually, when older PS2 games are re-released, they get updates like quick saves, better graphics, and the ability to rewind gameplay. However, the official description simply says this is an emulated version of Tomb Raider: Anniversary, now available on PS4 and PS5. We’ll have to wait until the game is released next week to find out if it includes any extra features.
As a classic PlayStation game, Tomb Raider: Anniversary will be available to PlayStation Plus Premium members as part of the “Classics” catalog when it’s released. If you don’t have a Premium subscription, you can still purchase and play the game separately on the PlayStation Store.
