Classic Sega Game Only $2.49 for Limited Time

For a limited time, you can get a beloved, retro Sega game for just $2.49 on PlayStation, Nintendo, and Xbox stores. This offer applies to owners of Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. While the game is also on PC through Steam, it’s not discounted there. And for those waiting for a Switch 2 version, it’s not currently available, but the existing Switch game will work on the new console thanks to backward compatibility.

From now until October 23rd on the PlayStation Store and Nintendo eShop, and until November 3rd on the Microsoft Store, fans of classic Sega games can get *The House of the Dead: Remake* for just $2.49. This is thanks to a huge 90% discount, making it the lowest price ever offered on these platforms.

About the Game

I remember playing *The House of the Dead* back when it first hit arcades in 1997 – it was so cool! Then, a year later, I was thrilled it came to the Sega Saturn and PC. Looking back, it got a decent score of 71% on GameRankings, but it wasn’t a blockbuster. Still, it was a really important game, especially for zombie fans like me. Along with *Resident Evil*, it basically kicked off the whole zombie game craze! It’s a landmark title in gaming history, even if the original version feels a little clunky by today’s standards.

Honestly, I wasn’t keen on digging up the original game to replay it, and thankfully, I didn’t have to! Megapixel Studio and Forever Entertainment released a remake back in 2022, and while it’s not flawless – the reviews show that – it’s definitely a much better experience than trying to play the old version now. It’s good enough that I’m happy with it!

Players familiar with the original game on Sega Saturn or in arcades will remember it’s quite short – typically lasting one to three hours. This made the original $25 price tag seem high, but at its current price of $2.49, it’s a much more reasonable value.

New Sequel

Sadly, *The House of the Dead 2: Remake* isn’t currently discounted. It came out in August for Nintendo Switch and PC, and will be available on PlayStation and Xbox shortly. However, reviews haven’t been great, so we might see a sale during the holidays.
