This reboot is one of the biggest franchises returning to television after many years.
A new anime series based on the classic manga Fist of the North Star is coming soon! Celebrating the anime’s 40th anniversary, the show will be available to stream worldwide exclusively on Prime Video. Prime Video has announced this as one of their biggest anime acquisitions of the year.
New Fist of the North Star Anime Comes to Prime Video in 2026

Fans can soon stream Fist of the North Star: Hokuto no Ken worldwide on Prime Video later this year. While a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet, the series is returning to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original manga, which first appeared in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. However, this revival will have a different look than some fans might expect, as it will be fully animated using computer graphics (CG).
Hiroshi Maeda will direct the new anime of Fist of the North Star: Hokuto no Ken at TMS Entertainment. Kazuhiko Inukai is writing the screenplay, Naoki Hisatsune is designing the characters, Koji will be the animation director, and Yuki Hayashi is composing the music. This adaptation is expected to be much closer to the original manga than the anime series from years ago, which is generating a lot of excitement for fans of the franchise.
What’s New for Fist of the North Star Reboot?

The new version of Fist of the North Star: Hokuto no Ken will have a completely new voice cast, including Shunsuke Takeuchi as Kenshiro, Daiki Yamashita as Bat, M.A.O as Rin, Wataru Takagi as Jagi, Tsuguo Mogami as Toki, Taiten Kusunoki as Raoh, Koji Yusa as Shin, and Saori Hayama as Yuria. However, the story itself will remain the same – it still follows a solitary warrior named Kenshiro as he journeys across a devastated future world, battling numerous enemies along the way.
Some longtime fans of Fist of the North Star might need a moment to adjust to the series’ new computer-animated style. However, CG animation has come a long way, particularly in the last ten years, and this reboot has the potential to really showcase those advancements.
