This summer, Spider-Man will be back in action as he joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the new film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. He’s sure to face plenty of challenges!
The upcoming superhero film will include several villains, both small and large. Michael Mando, playing Mac Gargan/Scorpion, and Marvin Jones III as Lonnie Lincoln/Tombstone, are expected to be the main threats. Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/Hulk will likely be a supporting villain, manipulated into that role by Jean Grey.
Which Spider-Man villain will make his live-action MCU debut in Brand New Day?
A list of potential villains for the next Spider-Man movie leaked online last month, suggesting appearances by Rhino, 8-Ball, Chameleon, and the Jackal. Now, a reliable source known as Cryptic HD QUALITY has confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that at least one of these characters will indeed appear as a villain in the sequel, marking their first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
When a fan asked about whether Chamelon and Jackal would be in Brand New Day, Cryptic HD QUALITY replied that they weren’t certain about Chamelon, but they had heard Jackal would be included.
The Jackal is the villainous identity of Miles Warren, a professor at Empire State University. Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in 1965, Warren’s connection to the Jackal wasn’t revealed until a decade later by Gerry Conway and Ross Andru. They had first introduced the Jackal as a separate character a year earlier in The Amazing Spider-Man #129.
Though not as famous as villains like the Green Goblin or Doctor Octopus, the Jackal is important in the Marvel Universe because he was one of the first to perfect cloning. He was a central figure in the popular, but often debated, Spider-Man story arc called the “Clone Saga,” which ran from 1994 to 1996.
If the Jackal shows up in the upcoming Spider-Man movie, it might hint at the possibility of the ‘Clone Saga’ storyline being adapted into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Recent reports suggest the movie will begin with a quick series of action scenes showing Spider-Man fighting less significant villains such as Boomerang and Tarantula, and it’s likely the Jackal will appear during this sequence.
Since this information hasn’t been officially confirmed, fans should view it as a rumor for now. We’ll find out the truth when Spider-Man: Brand New Day comes out in theaters on July 31, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
