Claudia Winkleman is joining Clare Balding as a host for this year’s Crufts dog show, and she seems right at home in the role.
The renowned dog show, Crufts, began yesterday, March 5th, with Claudia Winkleman joining presenters Clare Balding, Ellie Simmonds, and Radzi Chinyanganya for her first time.
To finish her first day, the presenter practiced a planned performance with a team showcasing golden retrievers. She worked with a dog named Honey, and said they quickly became friends during the rehearsal.
After playfully warning Balding to prepare for a shock, Winkleman demonstrated some things she’d learned from Honey, but things didn’t quite go as expected. You can see what happened in the video below.
Winkleman met some adorable animals with stylish bangs, and she instantly connected with them.
Claudia Winkleman was confirmed as the show’s host in February. She previously shared her excitement, saying she loves dogs and couldn’t imagine being anywhere else. She’s thrilled to join the team and thankful to Channel 4 for the opportunity, and she’s even come prepared with a pocket full of dog treats!
Balding, a contestant on last year’s The Celebrity Traitors alongside Winkleman, shared his excitement about working with Claudia. He described her as a great asset to the team, highlighting her love of dogs and her ability to bring both fun and insightful curiosity – plus a touch of style.
Pete Andrews, Channel 4’s head of sport, said that Crufts is a beloved event for their viewers. He described it as unique and expressed excitement about welcoming Claudia to their presenting team, enhancing their coverage of everything dog-related.
