*Warning: Celebrity Traitors spoilers ahead.*
The new reality show, The Traitors, launched successfully on BBC One tonight. Host Claudia Winkleman skillfully selected the ‘Traitors’ within the game, and viewers are loving it!
Following a dramatic introduction – complete with celebrities pretending to bury themselves for advantages and the first competition – the famous contestants had to argue why they deserved to be either a Faithful or a Traitor.
While pacing around the table, Claudia Winkleman selected Alan Carr, Cat Burns, and Jonathan Ross to join her as Traitors. They then met in the turret and received their initial challenge.
How did Claudia Winkleman decide who would be the Traitors? While she doesn’t make the decisions entirely on her own, some choices were obvious.

After that, I’d meet with the BBC executives and the casting team – a really talented group – and we’d discuss everything together. We didn’t have much time, but Alan had expressed he wanted to play the Traitor, and his reasons were convincing. It was hard to say no to that!
The show revealed that Traitors have to eliminate players openly, but without the Faithful figuring out who they are.
Alan Carr was given a tricky challenge: he had to subtly touch another contestant with pollen from a flower that had been treated with poison, without anyone noticing what he was doing.
The episode finished with a suspenseful moment, leaving viewers wondering which competitor will be eliminated. We’ll find out the answer tomorrow, October 9th.
The show will reveal whether Alan Carr was a good choice for the role, as he appeared quite anxious all day after unexpectedly being selected as a Traitor.
Before the show began, Carr explained that people had been asking if he’d like to be a ‘Traitor.’ He admitted he wasn’t sure, but was very curious to see how he’d handle the pressure if he were.
I’m not very good at hiding my feelings, so I just try to go with the flow. I often struggle with making decisions, and that’s really my biggest weakness. But I think being open to different ideas is actually a good thing.
Depending on my role, I’ll fully commit to the game. If I’m a traitor, I’ll try to eliminate as many players as possible. If I’m faithful, I’ll focus on identifying the traitors. Either way, I think it’s impossible not to get completely drawn in. I’m excited about becoming immersed in the experience and establishing a routine within the game.
Celebrity Traitors begins on Wednesday 8th October at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
