Dreamhaven and Secret Door, the team behind Sunderfolk, have revealed their next game, Shadowstone. It’s a cooperative strategy game for up to four players where you’ll make turn-based decisions in a roguelite format. Shadowstone is planned to enter Early Access on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store in 2026 and will cost $14.99.
I’m really excited about Shadowstone! The team at Secret Door says it’s what they wanted to make after Sunderfolk, and it sounds awesome. They’ve taken the world and characters we already love from the Sunderlands, but made everything way more challenging and strategic. Apparently, it’s inspired by some of their favorite roguelikes, so I’m expecting a really deep and engaging experience.
As a gamer, I was stoked to hear from Mike Morhaime, one of the founders of Dreamhaven, about Secret Door’s new game, Shadowstone. He said their team is always finding ways to make games that bring people together, and Shadowstone really shows that. It builds on the world of Sunderfolk, which I already love, and the cool thing is, you can play it with friends or go it alone if you want – it’s built to support both ways of playing!

Here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page:
About
Shadowstone is a tactical game for one to four players. You’ll need to carefully position your heroes and combine their abilities to overcome terrifying enemies in the dangerous Sunderlands.
Key Features
- Master Tactical Gameplay – Deliberate positioning and manipulation of elements in each encounter is core to the turn-based tactical gameplay of Shadowstone. Survival hinges on utilizing your hero’s unique skills such as using the Witch’s ability to duplicate healing and exploding mushrooms or the Berserker’s charge to displace enemies into dangerous lava.
- Endless Combinations – Each attempt to escape the shadowstone infested ruins presents a new nightmare with an endless array of randomized rooms and monsters. Players must adapt their strategy every run, relying on a constantly evolving pool of skill cards, versatile equipment, and adaptive powerups.
- Powerful Hero Synergies – Build overpowered synergies by upgrading and selecting complementary spells across your heroes. Execute complex multi-hero ability combinations to devastate enemy monsters, even when playing solo.
- Up to Four-Player Cooperative Play – Take command of multiple heroes solo, or band together with up to four players in online multiplayer. Mastering the strengths and weaknesses of different party compositions with highly cooperative strategy is essential to survive against the horrors shrouded in shadowstone power.
