Fans often mention *Code Geass* when discussing the best anime of all time. The series, which centers on Lelouch vi Britannia, boasts a truly original world and throws numerous obstacles in its main character’s path. With its compelling and intellectually stimulating premise, *Code Geass* continues to be a favorite among anime enthusiasts even years after it first aired. To commemorate its upcoming 20th anniversary, a special “Road to Code Geass 20th Year” project has been announced, and exciting new developments are planned for the franchise.
Fans of the anime *Code Geass* have a reason to celebrate! A special event, “Road to CODE GEASS 20th Year,” will bring 13 *Code Geass* movies back to theaters nationwide starting January 6, 2026. This includes all three films from the *Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion* series, the complete five-chapter *Code Geass: Akito the Exiled*, the movie *Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection*, and all four acts of *Code Geass: Rose the Recapture*. Screenings will take place on alternating Tuesdays and Thursdays through June 2026.
To celebrate the screening, a special illustration has been created and will be featured on limited-edition movie tickets. A collector’s set – including all 13 tickets and a display case – will be available exclusively at Animate. Attendees will also receive one of 13 unique illustrated cards, each featuring a different design.

Code Geass’ Future
The world of Code Geass has returned with the new series, *Code Geass: Rose of The Recapture*. Although the story doesn’t center on Lelouch, it follows new characters, Rose and Sakuya, who carry on his legacy. Given the spin-off’s popularity and the franchise’s dedicated fans, a full anime revival seems likely.
Late last year, voice actor Kohei Amakasaki expressed his hope for a continuation of his character’s story. He revealed that discussions about a sequel had already begun. During a stage event for the final episode of ‘Rose’s Recapture,’ Amakasaki jokingly ‘used Geass’ – a reference to the show’s power – on producer Taniguchi, asking him to create a sequel. He believes he’ll eventually be able to share Rose and Sakuya’s story with fans again and is excited to hear that new projects are in development, hoping the series will continue to be thought-provoking.
