Exciting news for drama enthusiasts! Officially, ITV has given the green light for another season of Rose Ayling-Ellis‘s crime thriller, “Code of Silence.
Just one week after its debut on May 18th, the drama has already been swiftly renewed. It quickly gained popularity among viewers, making headlines as a success story for the broadcaster, earning numerous positive reviews, and sparking much conversation on social media.
In my perspective as a film aficionado, I found myself captivated by Ayling-Ellis’s portrayal of Alison Brooks, a gifted lip reader working in a police canteen, whose exceptional talent catches the eye of two undercover officers who subsequently enlist her for a clandestine mission.
The story offered numerous unexpected plots, yet overall, audiences found Code of Silence to be remarkably distinct in the crime drama field. It successfully combined captivating twists with a significant focus on shedding light upon deaf, disabled, and neurodiverse societies.
So, it’s a grand thing that it’s returning for even more episodes!

Upon hearing the news about the series being renewed, lead actress Ayling-Ellis expressed her immense pride: “Code of Silence has been given a second chance! I’m thrilled!
The reaction to the initial installment has been astonishing, and it’s deeply meaningful to contribute to a production that manages to captivate viewers while making a Deaf character pivotal in the narrative.
I’m genuinely thrilled to follow Alison’s upcoming voyage and to collaborate once more with the exceptional cast, staff, and artistic collective who produce this captivating series.
The television show originates from the minds of Catherine Moulton, a writer known for Hijack and Baptiste, who expressed her delight about the revival and added: “I am ecstatic about the reception towards the initial series of Code of Silence and cannot wait to reintroduce Alison in another investigation.
It has been an honor to share a tale that broadens the portrayal of the Deaf community, all the while providing suspense and unexpected turns.
1. “Rose infuses the character with a great deal of emotion and depth, and I’m eager to embark upon the following installment alongside her, ITV, and the exceptional Mammoth crew.”
2. “With Rose, the role comes alive with warmth and intricacy; I can hardly wait to continue our journey together, along with ITV and the outstanding Mammoth team.”
3. “Rose’s portrayal is filled with emotion and layers, and I’m thrilled to join her for the upcoming story, alongside ITV and the terrific Mammoth group.”
4. “Rose truly breathes life into this role with her heartfelt performance, and I can hardly contain my excitement for the next chapter of our project, in collaboration with ITV and the exceptional Mammoth team.”
5. “Working with Rose on the next installment is a dream come true; she brings such depth and emotion to the character that I can’t wait to explore further, together with ITV and the talented Mammoth team.”
Regarding what Season 2 holds, it remains a mystery at the moment, but rest assured, this is merely the start of Alison’s tale.
According to ITV drama commissioner Callum Dziedzic, we’re in store for another thrilling mystery, as he hinted. Moreover, Dziedzic expressed great pride in Code of Silence, stating that it has been a delight watching audiences connect with the show, particularly their admiration for Alison – a character who is clever, determined, and endearing without even trying.
Rose breathes authentic warmth and complexity into the character, while Catherine’s brilliant idea provides her with a fitting environment to inhabit.
We’re eagerly anticipating the opportunity to unveil another captivating mystery, one that benefits immensely from Alison’s unique skills and point of view. The resulting tale promises to be heart-racing, singular, and unlike anything currently gracing your television screen.
At present, there’s no additional information disclosed regarding the future developments of Code of Silence. However, it’s clear that the series ended positively for Alison, who found herself £50,000 wealthier and looking forward to a career as a forensic lip reader in the future.
As a devoted cinephile, I was thrilled to see familiar faces like Charlotte Ritchie from the hit series Ghosts, Andrew Buchan known for his work in Black Doves, along with Kieron Moore, Nathan Armarkwei Laryea, Joe Absolom, and Fifi Garfield grace the screen in season 1.
From my perspective as a movie buff, I can’t predict if they’ll return for the sequel. Let’s stay tuned for updates.
All six episodes of Code of Silence are now available to stream on ITVX.
