Code Vein 2 Details Its Vast, Secret-Filled World and Combat in New Overview Trailer

I’m so hyped for Code Vein 2! Bandai Namco just released a nearly nine-minute trailer that basically walks you through everything you need to know about the game – it’s a dramatic action RPG, and it looks amazing. The trailer is packed with new stuff, like details on the different areas you’ll explore, cool new Drain Attacks, unique Formae, and all sorts of enemies you’ll be facing off against. I can’t wait to learn more!

The game delves deeper into the Resurgence, a world-ending disaster, and the danger posed by the Luna Rapacis. As a Revenant Hunter, the player must reinforce the seals binding four legendary heroes to avert catastrophe. Partnering with Lou Magwell, they journey into the past, teaming up with and battling alongside these heroes in a story that’s roughly the same length—or maybe a bit longer—than the first game.

A key part of Code Vein 2’s combat involves partnering with another character. You can summon a Revenant to fight with you, and even fuse together through a process called Assimilation to take on tougher enemies. Your partner can also revive you if you fall in battle, but they’ll be vulnerable while doing so, so try to avoid getting knocked down again!

Drain Attacks are back! You can use them to collect Ichor, which powers special attacks called Formae. If you stagger an enemy enough, you can perform even more powerful Drain Attacks. Formae themselves come in three types: close-combat skills, long-distance magic, and support buffs for your characters.

Players can unlock special abilities called Bequeathed Formae, which let them summon powerful weapons like dual gatling guns or a huge greatsword to deal extra damage. There are also Formae focused on defense, letting you block, counter, or dodge enemy attacks. Plus, different Blood Codes provide even more customization options, changing your stats and defenses to suit your playstyle.

The highly anticipated game, Code Vein 2, will be available on January 29th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. You can watch more gameplay footage from the Sunken City area here, and find a detailed feature article for even more information.
