In Code Vein 2, weapons are how you inflict damage, and each one has its own special attacks and customizable Formae. Though you can improve weapons throughout the game to keep them useful, certain ones stand out as being particularly powerful.

This guide is a listing of the 7 best weapons in Code Vein 2, one from each major group.

Bayonet

Sunset Bayonet Rifle

Base Slash Damage: 120

Base Crush Damage: 120

Formae:

  • Heart Breaker

You can find this Rifle-class Bayonet in the abandoned trains at Josee’s Outpost, or by defeating enemies who are already carrying one.

Silver Shot Shotgun

Base Slash Damage: 108

Base Crush Damage: 108

Formae:

  • Trigger Rush
  • Crushing Might

Between the two Shotgun Bayonets, the Silver Shot is better because it deals more damage and has a strong secondary Formae ability.

Acquire it from Jadwiga’s Minion located in MagMell Island’s south-west.

Grenade Launcher

Base Slash Damage: 104

Base Crush Damage: 104

Formae:

  • Heavenly Strike
  • Heart Breaker

This special Bayonet, which lets you throw grenades, is the only one of its kind. You can buy it from Jadwiga’s Minion at the Corroded Scar location.

Halberd

Tainted Halberd

Base Slash Damage: 197

Formae:

  • Sacrificial Edge

Okay, so halberds are awesome for dealing with groups of enemies – they really help keep those mobs away from me. And the Tainted Halberd? Seriously good. It does a base damage of 197 with each slash, which is pretty powerful!

Farm for the Tainted Halberd on MagMell Island by seeking out and battling enemies that use them.

Hammer

Forma Mech-Hammer Goliath

Base Crush Damage: 215

Formae:

  • Mighty Smash
  • Perfect Balance

Although the Tainted Hammer deals a bit more basic crushing damage than the Forma Mech-Hammer Goliath, the Goliath’s special moves and customization options make it the superior hammer overall.

Find this for sale in the north-east of Insula Carcere at Jadwiga’s Minion.

One-Handed Swords

Blade of Tenacity: Thunderstrike

Base Slash Damage: 98

Base Lightning Damage: 25

Formae:

  • Thunderclap
  • Looming Slash
  • McLeish’s Cog
  • Overdrive

With its powerful slashing attacks, lightning damage, and versatile moves, the Blade of Tenacity: Thunderstrike is the best choice for a one-handed sword.

Rune Blades

Glutton’s Eyes

Base Slash Damage: 70

  • Orbital Blade
  • Healing Counter

Okay, so I’ve been testing out a bunch of Rune Blades, and the Glutton’s Eyes is seriously a cut above the rest. What really sets it apart are the amazing special moves – things like fire attacks and the ability to attack while you’re in the air. It just feels so much more versatile and powerful than anything else I’ve tried.

After you defeat the Metagen Remnant, you’ll automatically receive the Glutton’s Eyes Rune Blade from Josee.

Twin Blades

Twin Fangs Of The Lone Wolf

Base Slash Damage: 62

Formae:

  • Blazing Roar
  • Offensive Order
  • Lightning Chain

The fast-paced, combo-focused weapon style doesn’t have many options, but the Twin Fangs Of The Lone Wolf are easily the best. These blades deal both slashing and piercing damage, and with three different Formae, they’re effective whether you’re fighting on the ground or in the air.

Purchase these from Jadwiga at the start of MagMell for just 10 Haze.

Two-Handed Swords

Glutton’s Heavyblade

Base Slash Damage: 142

Base Fire Damage: 35

Formae:

  • Adrenaline
  • Precision
  • Unquenchable Flame
  • Judgment Cutter

Despite having relatively low base damage, the Glutton’s Heavyblade Two-Handed Sword is a powerful weapon thanks to its built-in fire damage and four strong Formae options.
