Oh sure, Coinbase says it’s a “new type of contract,” like it’s an iPhone or something. Basically, they’re letting you bet on tech giants and bitcoins all at once. Because, well, who doesn’t love a little multi-asset chaos?
Launching September 22, this thing’s the first of its kind – a real “multi-asset” lovechild that combines your iPhone-loving tech stocks with your Bitcoin dreams. Only the U.S. could come up with this Frankenstein-traditional meets digital, and nobody quite knows what’s going to happen! 🎢
Coinbase says it’s all about “expansion,” “growth sectors,” and “thematic exposure.” Basically, they’re giving investors a way to play both sides of the street-tech giants and blockchain mania-at the same time. Because who wants simplicity anymore?
The index is a big ol’ pie chart-ten slices, each at 10%. The “Magnificent 7” (Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, Nvidia, Meta, Tesla) plus Coinbase and two crypto ETFs (BlackRock’s Bitcoin Trust and Ethereum Trust). They’re evenly split so nobody can complain, right?
Contracts are monthly, cash settled-so no, you don’t get the actual stocks, just the thrill of the level going up or down. And if you think it’s predictable, you haven’t seen enough markets! When the index hits $3,000, your contract’s worth $3,000-easy peasy! Rebalanced quarterly – because guesswork is fun for everyone!
Coinbase says it’s about “managing risk” and “exposure,” and “paving the way” for a new era-because the old way was just too boring. They plan to let regular folks play, too, but for now it’s on partner platforms only. So, stay tuned for more chaos! 🎉
