Channel 4 has shared some initial photos from its upcoming comedy series, Break Clause, featuring Samuel Bottomley (known for How to Have Sex) and Lara Ricote (Mitchell And Webb Are Not Helping). The show has also announced additional actors joining the cast.
The photos show Ben and Lil as a couple, but the upcoming series will focus on the breakdown of their relationship, not a romantic connection.
Break Clause is a six-part series about Ben and Lil, who have just broken up but are still living together in the same apartment. It explores the difficulties of moving on from a first love, and the added complication of having to figure out living arrangements when you’re no longer a couple.
The series also features John Thomson (known for Cold Feet), Lucy Black (Gentleman Jack), Catherine Cohen (Sentimental Value), Charly Clive (Rooster), Nathan Foad (Our Flag Means Death), Assa Kanouté (Boarders), and Jack Shep (Saturday Night Live UK), all of whom appear in the released images. They play the characters Alan, Deb, Jos, Frances, Owen, Kira, and Liam, respectively.

The images also include Tamika Bennett and Jack James Ryan, playing their characters Nic and Jordan from “I Fought the Law.” Hammed Animashaun, Michael Workéyè, Jessica Knappett, and Lucas Jones appear as Paul, Kas, the Vicar, and Sean, respectively, but we haven’t seen their characters in action yet.

Jess Bray, known for their work on ‘The Outlaws’, wrote and created the series, and Alice Snedden, who directed ‘Starstruck’, directed the episodes.

When the new season was announced, creator Ben Willbond (Bray) shared his excitement, saying he was thrilled and thankful that Channel 4 and ZDFneo were giving him the chance to continue Ben and Lil’s story, as he’d been a long-time fan of the show.

Break Clause will air on Channel 4.
