First shown in 1998 and concluding in 2020, the ITV drama Cold Feet proved to be a long-lasting and popular show with viewers.
After the ninth season concluded, the show went on break to allow the characters to develop naturally. Series creator Mike Bullen explained that this pause would give them time to deal with life changes and prepare for future storylines focusing on empty nest syndrome and becoming grandparents.
The cast of Cold Feet has discussed the possibility of bringing the show back, and fans are still enthusiastically praising their work on it.
James Nesbitt, Fay Ripley, and John Thomson, stars of the show Cold Feet, recently got together for a podcast called Reasons To Be Joyful with Gaby Roslin. During the recording, Nesbitt explained that people still frequently ask him about a possible Cold Feet revival, showing the show remains popular even now.

I really think Ripley’s right – the amazing reaction to the show proves it should definitely come back! Seeing it return after so long reminded everyone just how much joy it brings, and that’s a great sign for the future.
It’s natural to feel hesitant when a show returns after a long break, and a good way to gauge audience reaction is with a special episode, according to Thomson.
He suggested revisiting the show Cold Feet with a Christmas special, pointing to the successful Gavin & Stacey Christmas special as a reason to see if it would work.
Looking back on filming the series, Nesbitt shared that the most memorable part was how much fun it was. He described the initial chemistry between the cast as ‘magic,’ and said that positive energy really came across to viewers.
He added: “People still love it and still talk about it. That’s very special.”
Fans will have to be patient to find out when a potential “third age” of the show might happen. It’s been six years since the last season aired, and it’s unclear if that’s enough time for the story to move forward and for the actors to have aged enough to play grandparents.
Despite having a straightforward concept – simply showcasing the love lives of different couples in Manchester – Cold Feet was hugely popular with audiences when it first aired. Recently, actor Robert Bathurst discussed the show’s lasting impact in an interview with TopMob magazine.
He explained that ‘Cold Feet’ was fundamentally a show about relationships – the lives of six people and how they interacted. It was one of the first TV series to focus on everyday, middle-class life, but it was unique for being distinctly set in Manchester. The pilot episode was filmed 30 years ago, and since then, shows centered around domestic drama have become incredibly popular worldwide.
