Kristin Cabot is speaking up.
Five months after a video of the former HR head and then-CEO Andy Byron appearing close on the big screen at a Coldplay concert went viral, she shared her thoughts on what happened afterward.
Look, I messed up, plain and simple. I had a bit too much to drink – a couple of shots, actually – and I really let loose and behaved badly around my boss. I’m not trying to downplay it at all, and I fully own up to my actions. I know it wasn’t okay, and I’m taking responsibility for what happened.
Kristin, a mother of two teenagers from a previous marriage, quit her job after a video of her with Bryon at a concert in Massachusetts became popular on TikTok.
She explained she had left her job for all of this. It was a sacrifice she willingly made, and she wanted her children to understand that everyone makes mistakes, sometimes big ones.
Kristin said she and Bryon immediately had a good working relationship when she started at the tech company in summer 2024.
The following spring, she confessed she’d quickly developed strong feelings for her boss, who unexpectedly quit shortly after the concert. These feelings reached a peak when she asked Andy to join her and some friends at the show.
I just remember wanting to dress up, you know? I pictured myself going out, totally carefree, dancing and laughing all night. That’s exactly how I thought it would go, honestly. It felt like everything was lining up for the perfect night.
She recounted the story of her first and only kiss with Andy. During a performance when Coldplay’s Chris Martin focused the jumbotron camera on them, Kristin and her boss quickly ducked out of view, which caught the audience’s attention.
Chris jokingly wondered if two people were secretly dating or simply very reserved, admitting he wasn’t sure how to handle the situation.

Even though Kristin stated she and her husband, Andrew Cabot, were separated at the time—a fact Andrew later confirmed to People magazine through a representative—the situation was still concerning.
She stressed that Andy is her boss. She was deeply embarrassed and upset, explaining that as the head of Human Resources and him being the CEO, the situation felt like a predictable and unfortunate stereotype.
Explaining what happened to her children, she remembered how much the online attention had hurt her family. She said they were already struggling, and the situation quickly became much worse.
Kristin was thinking about a conversation she’d had with a friend as she dealt with everything happening in the public eye.
Her friend had told her, ‘You didn’t hurt anyone.’ She also hoped that everyone commenting online hadn’t ever made a mistake themselves.

During Coldplay’s July 15th performance at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, lead singer Chris Martin noticed a couple on the jumbotron who appeared to embrace as soon as they realized they were on the big screen.
Before the show started, Martin explained to the audience that they’d be using the cameras to scan the crowd. “We’ll be looking for people to say hello to on the screens,” he said. One of the first people they spotted was a young man who was surprised and delighted by a spontaneous birthday shout-out from Martin.
The singer noticed the couple and commented, ‘Look at these two.’ As the camera focused on them, the man quickly lowered his head, and the woman turned away, covering her face with her hands.
Martin joked that the couple was either having an affair or was simply very shy. He admitted he wasn’t sure how to handle the situation.
After the woman walked away, weaving through the crowd, the singer exclaimed, “Oh no! I hope we didn’t mess something up.”
A concertgoer, Grace Springer, filmed the incident, and online detectives quickly identified the two people involved as Andy Byron, CEO of Astronomer, and Kristin Cabot, Astronomer’s Chief People Officer. Social media users also discovered that both Byron and Cabot are married to others.
Almost immediately after, Martin turned to a new couple appearing on the screen and asked, “So, are you two actually a couple? Are you dating?”

Byron and Cabot, who used to work together, recently attended a Coldplay concert and quickly became a trending topic online. So far, neither of them has addressed the situation publicly. A supposed apology from Byron that appeared online was confirmed to be fake by Astronomer.
Byron led Astronomer, a data operations company often mistaken for a space-related business, while Cabot managed the company’s human resources department.
Astronomer confirmed July 24 to NBC News that Cabot had resigned.
Both individuals have removed their LinkedIn profiles, and reports indicate Byron’s wife has deleted her Instagram and Facebook accounts. They are said to have two sons together.
According to several reports, actor Christopher Lloyd is no longer on speaking terms with Andrew Cabot, the CEO of Privateer Rum. Andrew is a sixth-generation rum distiller, carrying on a family tradition that started during the American Revolution. The Boston Globe reports that Andrew previously worked in technology before starting the spirits company in 2011.
Kristin filed for divorce from Andrew on August 13th, according to court documents obtained by NBC News. However, a spokesperson for Andrew told People magazine that they had separated privately and amicably several weeks before a Coldplay concert. The couple do not have any children together, but Andrew has two children from a previous relationship.

Astronomer created Astro, a platform that helps teams easily create, manage, and monitor their data processes – all in one central location, according to the company.
Founded in 2018 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the company also operates offices in San Francisco and San Jose, California.
Byron joined the company as CEO in 2023 and Cabot came onboard in 2024.
In May 2025, Astronomer secured $93 million in Series D funding, with Bain Capital Ventures leading the round. The company described the investment as a milestone in its long-term plan to become a successful and enduring software business, according to the New York Post.
The funding raised the firm’s valuation to $740 million, according to the Economic Times.

On July 18th, Astronomer announced that its board of directors had begun a formal investigation into the situation and confirmed that a statement falsely attributed to Byron was not real.
The firm stated it remains dedicated to the principles and work environment that have defined it since its start. It expects its leaders to demonstrate the highest levels of professional behavior and take full responsibility for their actions.
The statement also clarified that everyone else visible in the jumbotron video, besides the two people involved, was not an employee of Astronomer. The company also told the Associated Press that Cabot was the woman seen with Byron in the video.

I was really surprised to hear about Byron going on leave from Astronomer on July 18th. Pete DeJoy, one of the founders and the Chief Product Officer, stepped in as interim CEO, but then, incredibly, announced his resignation just the very next day. It all happened so fast!
Andy Byron has resigned, and the Board of Directors has approved his departure, according to a statement to TopMob News. The Board will now begin looking for a new Chief Executive, while DeJoy will continue in his current, expanded position.
In a recent LinkedIn post, Astronomer’s CEO noted that the company has received an extraordinary amount of media attention lately – something rarely seen, especially for a small startup like theirs in the data and AI space. He described the attention as strange and unexpected, but acknowledged that it has quickly made Astronomer well-known.

Martin couldn’t even begin to try to fix what happened, but he’s had some fun with it since.
At Coldplay’s first concert following recent controversy on July 19th, the band’s lead singer reminded the audience at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin, that some fans might appear on the venue’s large screens.
“So please,” Martin said, “if you haven’t done your makeup, do your makeup now.”
