Coldplay Concert Scandal: Kristin Cabot Reveals Her Kids’ Reaction

Kristin Cabot isn’t ready to joke about the Coldplay kiss cam scandal.

Following a viral video in July showing her with her former boss, Andy Byron, the HR executive and her ex-husband, Andrew Cabot, announced their separation. She has since spoken about the difficult impact this has had on their two teenage children, stating it’s been a very serious matter.

In a recent interview with the New York Times on December 18th, Kristin shared that her children feared for both of their lives, saying, “My kids were afraid that I was going to die and they were going to die.”

Although she could dismiss most of the online negativity, she was deeply disturbed by the threats that put her family at risk. She described frightening voicemails – one even said, “I know where you shop and I’m coming for you” – which terrified both her and her children, who unfortunately overheard them.

Honestly, things were already pretty difficult for them, and then everything just completely fell apart. It was a really tough situation that quickly spiraled downward. As someone who looks at these things, it’s a classic example of a struggling situation hitting a breaking point.

Some interactions with fans while she was with her children also made her uncomfortable. She shared an instance where a woman attempted to photograph her and her daughter at a pool, recalling her daughter tearfully begging to leave.

She added of several more incidents, “I didn’t know what to do to support my kids correctly.”

Kristin remembered her friend telling her she hadn’t harmed anyone, but she still felt it was important to take responsibility for what she’d done.

She admitted she made a mistake, explaining she had too much to drink and behaved inappropriately with her boss. She emphasized that this wasn’t a minor issue, and she took full responsibility, ultimately choosing to leave her job as a consequence. She considered this a fair price to pay for her actions.

She hopes her openness will inspire others, but that doesn’t excuse the hardship she’s faced.

As a parent, one of the most important lessons I want to instill in my children is that it’s okay to make mistakes – everyone does! We all stumble and sometimes really mess things up. But, and this is crucial, no one should ever live in fear of extreme consequences, like violence, simply for being human and making errors. It’s about creating a safe space where they can learn and grow without that kind of terror.

For a rundown on the moment at the concert that started it all, read on.

During Coldplay’s July 15th concert at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, lead singer Chris Martin noticed a couple on the jumbotron who appeared to embrace as soon as they realized they were on the big screen.

Before the event, Martin explained they’d be using the cameras to scan the audience. “We’ll be looking at the screens to find people we can say hello to,” he said. Their first shout-out went to a surprised and delighted young man who received a spontaneous birthday wish from Martin.

The singer noticed the couple and commented, “Look at these two.” However, as the camera focused on them, the man lowered his head and the woman turned away, covering her face with her hands.

Honestly, Martin just cracked a joke about whether they’re secretly seeing each other or are simply incredibly reserved. It’s thrown me for a loop, and I’m completely at a loss for what to do next. I’m really starting to wonder what’s going on with them!

After the woman walked away, weaving through the crowd, the singer exclaimed, “Oh no! I hope we didn’t mess something up.”

A concertgoer named Grace Springer caught the moment on video, and online detectives quickly figured out the two people involved were Andy Byron, the CEO of Astronomer, and Kristin Cabot, the company’s Chief People Officer. Social media users also discovered that both Byron and Cabot are married to others.

Almost immediately after, Martin turned to a new couple on the screen and asked, “So, are you two actually a couple? Are you in a relationship?”

Byron and Cabot, who used to work together, recently attended a Coldplay concert and quickly became a trending topic online. While neither has publicly addressed the event, a supposed apology from Byron that appeared online was confirmed to be fake by Astronomer.

Byron led Astronomer, a data operations company that, despite its name, doesn’t deal with space. Cabot was in charge of human resources at the same firm.

Astronomer confirmed July 24 to NBC News that Cabot had resigned.

Both individuals have removed their LinkedIn profiles, and reports indicate Byron’s wife has deleted her Instagram and Facebook accounts. They are parents to two sons.

According to several reports, actor Christopher Lloyd is no longer on speaking terms with Andrew Cabot, the CEO of Privateer Rum. Andrew Cabot is a sixth-generation rum distiller, carrying on a family tradition that began during the American Revolution. The Boston Globe reports that Andrew left a career in technology to start the spirits company in 2011.

Kristin filed for divorce from Andrew on August 13th, according to court documents obtained by NBC News. However, a spokesperson for Andrew told People magazine that they had already separated privately and amicably several weeks before a Coldplay concert. The couple does not have any children together, but Andrew has two children from a previous relationship.

Astronomer created Astro, a platform that helps teams easily create, manage, and monitor their data processes – all in one central location.

Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE where this all started! It was back in 2018, in Cincinnati, Ohio – seriously, that’s where the magic began! And now? They’ve expanded! They have offices out in California too – both in San Francisco AND San Jose. I’m just so proud of how far they’ve come!

Byron joined the company as CEO in 2023 and Cabot came onboard in 2024.

In May 2025, Astronomer secured $93 million in Series D funding, with Bain Capital Ventures leading the round. The company described the investment as an important milestone in its long-term goal of becoming a successful and sustainable software business, according to the New York Post.

The funding raised the firm’s valuation to $740 million, according to the Economic Times.

On July 18th, Astronomer announced that its board of directors had begun a formal investigation into the situation and confirmed that a statement falsely attributed to Byron was not authentic.

Astronomer remains dedicated to the principles and work environment that have been central to our company since the beginning. We expect our leaders to demonstrate the highest levels of integrity and take full responsibility for their actions.

The statement also clarified that everyone else shown in the jumbotron video – besides the two people involved – did not work for Astronomer. The company also told the Associated Press that Cabot was the woman seen with Byron in the video.

As of July 18th, Byron was taking a leave of absence from Astronomer. Pete DeJoy, a co-founder and the Chief Product Officer, was appointed interim CEO, but then resigned from that role the following day.

Andy Byron has resigned, and the Board of Directors has approved his departure,” said Astronomer in a statement to TopMob News. The Board will now begin looking for a new Chief Executive, and DeJoy will continue in his current, expanded position.

In a recent LinkedIn post, Astronomer CEO DeJoy acknowledged the company has received an extraordinary amount of media attention lately – something rarely seen by startups, especially in the data and AI space. He described the experience as strange and unexpected, but noted that it has quickly made Astronomer well-known.

Martin couldn’t even begin to try to fix what happened, but he’s had some fun with it since.

At Coldplay’s first concert following recent controversy on July 19th, the band’s lead singer reminded the audience at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin, that some fans might appear on the stadium’s video screens.

“So please,” Martin said, “if you haven’t done your makeup, do your makeup now.”
