Andrew Lincoln as John

John is a stay-at-home dad to two children who struggles with anxiety. He tends to avoid conflict at all costs, which is a key reason his family ends up in Coldwater. Though he hates being seen as weak, he often freezes up and withdraws when faced with confrontation – and he seems to attract aggressive people. This leaves him feeling powerless and diminished.
If you recognize Andrew Lincoln, it’s likely from his famous role as Rick Grimes in *The Walking Dead*. However, he’s been acting for a while! He first gained attention in the BBC sitcom *This Life* back in 1997, and later starred as Simon Casey in Channel 4’s *Teachers* in 2001. He’s also appeared in other popular projects like *Strike Back* (as Hugh Collinson), *Love Actually* (as Mark), and the 2005 series *Afterlife* (as Robert Bridge). Most recently, in 2024, he reprised his role as Rick Grimes in the spin-off series *The Ones Who Live*.
Indira Varma as Fiona

Fiona is John’s wife and the main financial support for their family, successful as a writer. She’s much more confident and sociable than John, and she wants to improve their struggling marriage – that’s why she agreed to move to Coldwater. However, she’s very perceptive and doesn’t trust people easily, so she’s quickly wary of their new neighbors.
You might recognize Indira Varma from a variety of roles! She started gaining recognition in 1999 with the Channel 4 series *Psychos*, but many know her best as Ellaria Sand in *Game of Thrones* (2014). Since then, she’s appeared in popular shows like *This Way Up*, *The Legend of Vox Machina*, and *Doctor Who*. Her other television credits include *Rome*, *The Whistleblowers*, *Luther*, *Hunted*, and *Patrick Melrose*. Varma is also a celebrated stage actress, having performed with the National Theatre and winning an Olivier Award for her supporting role in *Present Laughter* alongside Andrew Scott.
Ewen Bremner as Tommy

Tommy is a well-respected and influential figure in the town of Coldwater. He’s generally popular, despite having an unusual sense of humor and a secretive past. When John arrives, Tommy takes him under his wing, though Fiona doesn’t trust him. Tommy is also deeply interested in serial killers and true crime, particularly those with connections to Scotland.
You might recognize Ewan Bremner from his breakout role as Spud in the 1996 film *Trainspotting*, where he acted alongside Ewan McGregor and Jonny Lee Miller. Since then, he’s appeared in several popular movies like *Snatch*, *Pearl Harbor*, *Black Hawk Down*, *Alien vs. Predator*, *Banished*, and *Wonder Woman*. He revisited the character of Spud in the 2017 sequel, *T2: Trainspotting*, and recently starred as Buttons in the acclaimed series *Our Flag Means Death*, which concluded in 2023.
Eve Myles as Rebecca

Rebecca is the pastor at Coldwater, but surprisingly, she doesn’t believe in God herself. She likes being an active and well-liked part of the community, and is especially kind to her new neighbor, Fiona. She deeply loves her husband, Tommy, and they’ve raised two adult children together, though Tommy always comes first in her life.
If you recognize Eve Myles, you might know her from her popular role as Gwen Cooper in the sci-fi series *Torchwood*, which she played from 2006 to 2011. She’s also appeared in other well-known shows like *Broadchurch* (as Claire Ripley) and *Victoria* (as Mrs. Jenkins), and she starred as Faith Howell in the Welsh drama *Keeping Faith*.
Currently, she can be seen on screen as Fran in BBC thriller The Guest.
Lois Chimimba as Catriona

Catriona is a friendly and well-liked 25-year-old who works at the newsagent and pub in Coldwater. While she’s approachable and kind, some people mistake her warmth for weakness. She’s also savvy and knows how to handle herself, making her a popular figure in town.
As a big fan of British drama, I’ve definitely spotted Lois Chimimba in a few things! I remember her from shows like *Trust Me*, *A Discovery of Witches*, and *The One*. She was fantastic in *Doctor Who* – I especially enjoyed ‘The Tsuranga Conundrum’ where she played Mabli. More recently, I recognized her from *Vigil* – she was brilliant alongside Suranne Jones – and she also had a role in *Sex Education*. Oh, and I’m a listener of the *Doctor Who* podcast *Redacted*, and she’s done voice work on a whopping 17 episodes! She’s quickly becoming a familiar and welcome face, and I’m excited to see what she does next. I also remember her as Carrie McAndrew in *Shetland*.
Abigail Lawrie as Moira-Jane

Moira-Jane is the oldest child of Tommy and Rebecca, but she hasn’t been close to her family for a while. She currently lives in Glasgow and seems to be doing well and is happy.
Abigail Lawrie is a Scottish actress who first appeared on TV in 2015 with the series *The Casual Vacancy*. She’s best known for her role as Anna Worth in the Sky Original series *Tin Star*. You might also recognize her from appearances in *Strike*, *No Escape*, and *Good Omens*.
Samuel Bottomley as Cameron

Cameron is the youngest child of Tommy and Rebecca. He’s a very observant person – almost too perceptive for his age! He deeply cares for his friends and family and secretly has feelings for Catriona, who doesn’t feel the same way.
You might recognize Samuel Bottomley from his role as a young Thomas Cromwell in the 2015 series *Wolf Hall*. He’s also been a regular on *Ackley Bridge*, and has appeared in TV shows like *Jericho*, *The Teacher*, *Ladhood*, and *Somewhere Boy*. More recently, he was in the award-winning film *How To Have Sex*, and his latest role was in the BBC comedy *Am I Being Unreasonable?* starring Daisy-May Cooper.
Coldwater airs 14th September at 9pm on ITV.
