The music community is mourning one of their own.
I was so shocked and saddened to hear about Yeison Jiménez. He was a truly talented Colombian singer and songwriter, and a big part of the música popular scene – you know, that amazing blend of traditional Mexican ranchera and Colombian sounds. It’s just heartbreaking to learn he passed away in a plane crash on January 10th, and he was only 34 years old. He’ll be deeply missed.
A plane with registration number N325FA crashed between the towns of Paipa and Duitama in Colombia, resulting in the deaths of all six people on board. The flight was en route to Medellín, according to a statement from the Special Administrative Unit of Civil Aeronautics (SAUCA) posted on X.
A representative confirmed on social media that the singer behind the hit song “Aventurero” and several of his team members have passed away.
The team at Yeison Jiménez is heartbroken to announce his passing. In a statement on his Instagram account, they shared their deep sorrow, saying they aren’t just losing a talented artist, but a beloved son, brother, friend, and a truly inspiring person who turned his life into a message of hope for so many.
Oh my gosh, Yeison… he was just incredible. He really lived perseverance, you know? He worked so hard, was so disciplined, and he absolutely adored his community. It wasn’t just what he said, but how he lived, and honestly, it’s going to stay with all of us who loved him forever. His voice, his example… it all came from that dedication, and it’s just… unforgettable.
Yeison is survived by his wife Sonia Restrepo and their three kids.

I was heartbroken to learn from a recent social media post that Yeison lost several members of his team in the plane crash right after takeoff. It confirmed the deaths of some truly wonderful people, including Jefferson Osorio, Juan Manuel Rodríguez, Óscar Marín, Weisman Mora, and their pilot, Captain Fernando Torres. It’s a devastating loss for everyone who knew them.
The representative expressed their heartfelt sympathy, complete support, and offered prayers to the families affected by this tragedy.
The crash remains under investigation, per TMZ.
The singer behind the hit “Hasta La Madre” was a hugely popular artist in Colombia. Billboard reported that he was the first Colombian musician to sell out Bogotá’s Movistar Arena three times, playing to over 40,000 fans in total.
Though Yeison is no longer with us, his music and spirit will live on. He left a lasting impact on Colombian regional music and will be remembered for his perseverance and inspiring message that progress is always possible. His songs will continue to bring light and hope to those who listen.
