Community’s Best Seasons are Now Streaming on Peacock

Starting January 1st, the first two seasons of the hit sitcom Community are now available to stream on Peacock, joining a collection of other popular TV comedies.

As a huge Community fan, I always tell people that Seasons 1 and 2 are absolute gold – seriously some of the best TV you’ll ever see. And with NBCUniversal owning the show, I’m hoping the rest of the episodes will eventually stream on Peacock too! It feels like it’s only a matter of time.

Created by Dan Harmon, who oversaw the first three and last two seasons, Community first aired on NBC in 2009 and quickly became known for its unique brand of comedy. The show centers around a diverse group of students – including Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Donald Glover, Yvette Nicole Brown, Danny Pudi, and Gillian Jacobs – who meet at the quirky Greendale Community College and form a hilariously unpredictable study group.

During its original broadcast, Community aired for five seasons on NBC, creating almost 100 episodes. After NBC canceled the show, Yahoo! Screen revived it for a sixth and final season, bringing the total number of episodes to 110.

As a sitcom fan, I can confidently say Community stands out as one of the best of recent years. It wasn’t just critically acclaimed – the show racked up an impressive 60 award nominations, winning 11 in total! Those wins included a Primetime Emmy in 2011 for Drew Hodges’ amazing animation work on the episode “Abed’s Uncontrollable Christmas,” and a Satellite Award for Best Television Release that same year. It’s a show that really deserved the recognition it got.

The sitcom Community is highly acclaimed, earning consistently positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Every season except the fourth has received a “Certified Fresh” rating, with scores between 89

Will Community Ever Return With Its Long-Awaited “And a Movie”?

For years, fans have hoped Community would come back for six seasons and a movie – a goal many of the show’s actors also share. In April 2025, one cast member expressed their enthusiasm, saying they and others would be happy to continue with the show if the opportunity arose.

Whether or not we do more really hinges on how well the movie does, but if there’s enough interest from viewers, I’m open to it. I’m not sure what form it would take – the movie’s outcome would definitely guide that – but I’d be happy to participate, and I know others feel the same way. I won’t say who just yet. Everyone keeps suggesting a limited series, and I’d absolutely be on board with that idea.

Community Seasons 1 and 2 are now available for streaming on Peacock.
