Family and friends are mourning the loss of a legendary singer.
The well-known singer Connie Francis, who dominated the music charts during the 1950s and ’60s and has seen renewed popularity on social media, passed away at the age of 87 as confirmed by the head of her record label on July 17th.
Ron Roberts expressed his deep sorrow and regret on Facebook, announcing the death of his beloved friend, Connie Francis, who passed away last night. He felt it appropriate for Connie’s fans to be among the first to hear about this unfortunate event.
Francis passed away approximately two weeks after being admitted to the hospital due to severe discomfort. The author of “Who’s Sorry Now?” conveyed her apologies for having to cancel an engagement.
On July 2, she posted on Facebook that she’s returned to the hospital for more examinations and tests, aiming to find out what’s causing the severe pain she’s been feeling.
She mentioned, “I was looking forward to appearing on Cousin Brucie Marrow’s show for the Fourth of July. Unfortunately, I had to cancel an earlier date a few weeks back due to hip treatment. Regrettably, I had to inform him that I needed to pull out again.
However, hours later, Francis noted that she was on the mend and thankful for the support.
She happily announced that after a sequence of tests and assessments in the Intensive Care Unit, she has been moved to a personal room now. In a different post, she expressed her gratitude for everyone’s thoughtful messages, kind words, and prayers. They truly make a difference!
The singer known for “Pretty Little Baby,” whose 1962 hit is now trending on TikTok, stepped away from the music industry in 2018. However, she returned to the limelight this year as her song, which she recorded when she was 24, appeared on Billboard’s Global 20 and Spotify’s Daily Top Songs USA charts over six decades after it was first released.
After her song gained popularity, the woman from New Jersey – who in 1960 became the first female artist to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with her hit “Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool” – was delighted that her music was being re-introduced to a new group of listeners.
She expressed being both astonished and thrilled in a TikTok video on June 6, as she talked about the global sensation her 1962 recording of ‘Pretty Little Baby’ has become. It’s hard to believe that a song I recorded 63 years ago is winning over new generations of listeners, and this feeling is truly overwhelming for me.
Even though it had been a while since Francis considered “Pretty Little Baby”, her heart continued to be thankful for the overwhelming affection shown.
She shared with People magazine in May that it was simply incredible, something she had never believed possible – a realization of her dreams.
