Control Resonant Has “The Biggest Gameplay Team in Remedy History,” Says Executive Producer

Remedy Entertainment recently shared a new behind-the-scenes look at Control Resonant, following early previews of the game. The developers discussed their plans for the sequel, including moving beyond the setting of The Oldest House, which they say will be exciting. According to executive producer Juha Vainio, this project has the largest development team in the company’s history.

Storytelling has always been central to Remedy Games, and remains a key focus for us. However, when it comes to moment-to-moment action and movement, we prioritize gameplay above all else – something we proved with Control. With Resonant, we’re pushing that gameplay experience even further.

According to creative director Mikael Kasurinen, players returning to the game will recognize many characters and events, including The Hiss and Mold – both featured in FBC Firebreak. But the team is also adding a significant amount of new content and features.

Senior community manager Vida Starčević explains that the new game builds on what players already enjoy, while also pushing boundaries. She believes the development team put a lot of heart into the project, carefully considering both the positive feedback and constructive criticism they received for Control and using it to make Control Resonant even better.

Having been around for three decades and benefiting from a dedicated fanbase, Kasurinen feels that the game Resonant holds a particularly special place for the studio.

We aimed to deliver the familiar experiences fans expect from our previous games, but also wanted to surprise them with something fresh and exciting. We’re passionate about expanding the game’s universe and exploring new possibilities.

I’m so hyped for Control Resonant! It’s set seven years after the first Control, and this time we play as Dylan Faden. He’s just woken up from a coma and things are already going crazy – Manhattan is getting totally warped by some kind of weird paranormal event. Luckily, he’s got this awesome, transforming weapon called the Aberrant and his own psychic abilities. He’s teaming up with the FBC, and a new agent named Zoe de Vera, to try and fix everything. It sounds incredible!

He’s also looking for his missing sister, Jesse. Though Remedy has said she’ll be involved in the story, players won’t be able to control her character.

Control Resonant is planned to launch later this year on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. The game is currently in early testing (alpha stage), and while a release in the second half of 2026 seems likely, the developers will share a confirmed release date soon.
