I’m so hyped for Control Resonant! Remedy is really swinging for the fences with this one – they’re saying it’s going to be their biggest and most ambitious game yet, but they’re not just playing it safe with a simple sequel. From what I’ve heard, we’ll be exploring a massive, open-ended version of New York City, completely overrun with the weirdness from the original Control. We’ll be playing as Dylan Faden, fighting to try and save the city, and hopefully, he’ll also be able to find out what happened to his sister, Jesse, while he’s at it. It sounds incredible!
The game might not be released until later this year. IGN recently reported that it’s still in early development—the ‘alpha’ stage—and they haven’t seen a complete, playable demonstration yet. While this might seem worrying, the game could move to the ‘beta’ stage soon and then be refined for release before the end of the year.
Remedy has updated its Northlight engine with improvements like seeing objects further in the distance and allowing for more enemies to appear at once. The game is aiming for a smooth 60 frames per second on all systems. Considering recent releases like Alan Wake 2, it’s likely there will be different graphics settings for consoles, potentially including the PlayStation 5 Pro.
The release date for Control Resonant hasn’t been announced yet, but it’s planned for release later in 2024 on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. And if you were hoping to play as Jesse Faden, you’ll be surprised to hear what’s coming.
