Ever since Control Resonant was shown at The Game Awards, people have been guessing when it will come out. Remedy Entertainment recently confirmed a release window of Q2 2026 in their latest earnings report, adding fuel to the speculation.
To quickly address rumors and prevent them from spreading, Remedy Entertainment’s communications director, Thomas Puha, has clarified on social media that the studio hasn’t announced an official release date for the game.
According to Remedy Entertainment, the game Control Resonant is currently scheduled to release in 2026. Any other information about its release date is just guesswork.
Remedy Entertainment, the studio behind the popular game Control, says its upcoming sequel, Control Resonant, will be their most ambitious project yet. In a social media post, they explained they specifically aimed to challenge themselves and push the limits of what they can achieve with this new installment. They emphasized that this isn’t a cautious sequel, and after seven years, they believe fans deserve a game that truly expands on the original.
Unlike the first Control game, which starred Jesse Faden, Control Resonant will let players experience the story as her brother, Dylan. This new installment also changes the gameplay focus: instead of relying on shooting from a distance, Control Resonant will center around close-quarters combat as Dylan fights his way through New York City.
Remedy has shared more details about the character Dylan Faden, including information from the unveiling trailer. Dylan’s main goal is to find his sister, Jesse, but he’ll also meet and make friends with other characters during his journey. The story takes place in Manhattan, which is facing a massive, world-ending threat, and Dylan has been sent by the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC) to investigate and help.
Mikael Kasurinen, co-creative director, has revealed that Control Resonant will be an action RPG with a focus on exploration and replayability. He described the game’s world as a dynamic, unusual place where players are rewarded for being curious and investigating everything around them.
Released in 2019, Control follows Jesse Faden as she searches for her brother, Dylan, leading her to the Federal Bureau of Control’s headquarters, known as the Oldest House. She soon discovers a dangerous invasion by a force called the Hiss, and that the building itself is unstable. The previous director, Zacharian Trench, is also found dead. Jesse steps into his role as Director and, armed with a powerful weapon, begins to navigate the ever-changing, labyrinthine corridors of the Oldest House.
The game Control is connected to a broader universe, and a downloadable expansion later linked its story to that of Alan Wake. Furthermore, Alan Wake 2 strengthened the connection between the two games by featuring agents from the Federal Bureau of Control within its narrative.
Remedy has consistently stated that CONTROL Resonant is planned for release in 2026. Any other dates you might see are just guesses.
