Remedy Entertainment’s upcoming game, Control Resonant, isn’t the only focus – the studio continues to update its existing games, Control Ultimate Edition and Alan Wake 2. Following the addition of support for the PlayStation 5 Pro, Remedy has confirmed that both titles will also take advantage of the new Upgraded PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology.
A recent update has improved image quality in several games, beginning with Resident Evil Requiem. Players can also expect better visuals in Control Ultimate Edition and Alan Wake 2, with Remedy Entertainment stating that these versions will have clearer, more stable images and smoother motion.
It’s noteworthy that when Remedy initially introduced PSSR in Alan Wake 2, it faced a lot of criticism. They responded by refining the technology, including adding ray-traced reflections in Quality mode and boosting resolution in Performance mode. Ultimately, they also gave players the choice to disable PSSR altogether.
The enhanced PSSR feature needs to be turned on manually, allowing players who prefer the original versions to still experience both games as they currently are on their PS5 Pro. Remedy hasn’t given a specific date for its release, but says it will be available “soon.”
Given the success of its previous games, it’s expected that Control Resonant will be next. It’s been confirmed that the PC version, launching later this year, will include Path Tracing and RTX Mega Geometry, so keep an eye out for more details.
PlayStation 5 Pro will enhance CONTROL Ultimate Edition and Alan Wake 2 with a new, improved technology called PSSR. This upgrade will make movements look smoother and the image clearer and more stable. Players will experience a significant boost in visual quality when exploring locations like the Oldest House and Bright Falls.
