Do you recall when Remedy Entertainment provided a complimentary update for Control Ultimate Edition on PC earlier in the year? Following their announcement of a release date “in the near future” for consoles, they’ve now confirmed it will be available on October 6th for both Xbox Series X/S and PS5.
This update features Dr. Yoshimi Tokui’s Guided Imagery Experience, a special mission available only with the Digital Deluxe Edition on PS4. It’s particularly notable because Hideo Kojima, the creator of Metal Gear and Death Stranding, lent his voice to the experience.
Naturally, it also includes enhancements such as HDR and compatibility with ultrawide monitors, but these are currently only available on PC. It’s still unclear if consoles will get the SDR update and improvements to texture streaming and ray tracing. We’ll share the full patch notes on Monday, so stay tuned for more information.
First appearing on PS4, PC, and Xbox One in 2019, and later on Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5, Control has achieved over five million sales. Currently, a follow-up game, Control 2, is being developed for the latest generation of consoles and PC, and moved into full production earlier in the year.
As a huge fan, I’m so excited to share that the free update for Control Ultimate Edition, which dropped on PC earlier this year, is finally hitting PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on Monday, October 6th! I can’t wait to jump back in. We’ll get the full update notes on Monday too! #ControlRemedy #RMD30 📸 playpausephoto
