AI chatbots are now everywhere, appearing on almost every website and app we use. Microsoft has been a leader in this trend, particularly since investing heavily in OpenAI. They’re even aiming to transform Windows so it proactively helps users, though this idea hasn’t been popular with everyone.

Copilot is now a significant part of Windows 11, appearing throughout the operating system. However, people are divided on whether it’s a helpful addition or unnecessary software.

Microsoft recently announced that Copilot will no longer be available on WhatsApp. The tool launched on the platform in late 2024 with the goal of making AI assistance accessible in a convenient, everyday environment.

WhatsApp recently updated its rules to prohibit AI chatbots like Copilot and ChatGPT. This means you won’t be able to use Copilot directly within WhatsApp after January 15, 2026, and OpenAI’s ChatGPT will also stop working on the platform at that time.

While speaking to TechCrunch, a Meta spokesman indicated:

The WhatsApp Business API is designed to help companies offer customer service and share important information. We’re dedicated to supporting the many businesses that are using WhatsApp to connect with their customers.

Meta is stopping AI chatbots from companies like Microsoft and OpenAI from using its platform to share their services. It seems Meta is now focusing on building its own AI tools and plans to connect them directly with the large number of people who use WhatsApp.

Microsoft confirms that Copilot will still be available on various platforms like Windows, the web, and the mobile apps for both Android and iPhone/iPad.
