Coronation Street airs game-changing murder cliffhanger in ITVX release

As a long-time Coronation Street enthusiast and someone who has seen more than their fair share of plot twists, I must say that this latest turn of events has left me utterly captivated. The hunt for Joel Deering’s murderer has taken an unexpected turn with the arrest of DS Lisa Swain, a character we all thought was trustworthy.

In Coronation Street, a nerve-wracking twist has turned everything upside down, as the search for Joel Deering’s (Calum Lill) killer remains ongoing.

Channique Sterling-Brown, portraying Dee-Dee Bailey, admitted to Detective Kit Green (played by Jacob Roberts) that she struck Joel with a crowbar in self-defense, and subsequently, on the same evening, made an anonymous call to him about the incident.

As a cinephile, I found myself in a curious situation when I noticed Joel carrying a suitcase with him. It turns out Dee-Dee was referring to the fact that the weapon, which we’re dealing with, is now hidden in her father Ed’s (Trevor Michael Georges) backyard.

Despite Dee-Dee’s claim that Joel was still alive when she parted ways with him and her mention of a message he sent later, Kit suspected that Dee-Dee had returned to complete what she started against Joel.

But when PC Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) disclosed that the bloody murder weapon was in fact a rock, Kit’s theory came to an end.

Max Turner (played by Paddy Bever) showed an uncommon eagerness to learn more about Dee-Dee, while Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) and baby Frankie received an unexpected visit from Sabrina Adetiba (Luana Santos), who appeared somewhat anxious.

Sabrina quickly left when Max returned to the hospital, and he failed to tell Lauren about Dee-Dee.

Simultaneously, Carla Connor (Alison King) was taken aback when DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) was apprehended for the murder of Joel!

It was discovered that the murder weapon matched Lisa’s computer problem solver, which has now made her the main person of interest in the case. Meanwhile, Dee-Dee, who appeared bewildered, was freed without any charges being pressed against her.

However, Dee-Dee grew wary as Kit became evasive about the question of whether he’d discovered Joel on his own that particular night.

In this scenario, Kit questioned Lisa, who offered an explanation for her whereabouts – however, this account did not align with the events surrounding Joel’s last moments, and it appeared that Lisa was in a difficult position.

Over time, Carla grew more and more concerned about Lisa’s arrest, and it wasn’t long before we learned the reason. Through a series of events, it was shown that Carla unexpectedly discovered Max and Lauren with a bag, intending to leave secretly in the dead of night.

Is it possible that Max and Lauren played a role in Joel’s demise, or was it actually Lisa who committed the crime? Could Sabrina’s unexpected arrival hold significance, and what about the suspicious actions of Kit?

All will be revealed by the end of the week, as Joel’s murderer is finally unmasked for viewers.
