A new drama called Number One Fan is coming to 5, and it promises a darker side to the seemingly cheerful world of morning television.
Sally Lindsay and Jill Halfpenny, both known for their roles in popular TV dramas, team up in a new series about a dramatic rescue. The story follows a morning television presenter who is saved from a dangerous fan.
The premiere date for the new drama, Number One Fan, has been confirmed! It will air on Channel 5 on Monday, May 4th, at 9 PM.
The show will be available to stream online immediately, and new episodes will also air on TV each night that week, continuing until Thursday, May 5th. There will be four episodes in total.
The new four-part series centers around Lucy, a beloved morning show host played by Jill Halfpenny, who presents the popular program ‘Lucy Live’.
She’s known for being direct and honest, always delivering the truth with a cheerful and playful attitude. She’s driven and puts in a lot of effort, but underneath that positive exterior, she’s fiercely determined and won’t hesitate to do what it takes to succeed.

The story introduces Sally Lindsay as Donna, a seemingly harmless and unassuming fan who unexpectedly rescues Lucy from a violent attack. However, Lucy’s thankfulness soon turns to unease as Donna’s admiration becomes a dangerous obsession, impacting every aspect of Lucy’s life – her work, family, and relationships.
Lucy is horrified to discover that Donna is connected to a secret from her past, one that could ruin everything she’s worked for in her career.
In this series, Rakie Ayola plays Lucy Logan, a television presenter. Ayola is well-known for her previous work, including regular appearances on Channel 5 dramas, and has also starred in shows like The Drowning, The Cuckoo, and The Feud.
More recently, she has been seen in ITV’s After The Flood and Paramount+ drama Girl Taken.
Lindsay is well-known for her previous work on Coronation Street, but she currently stars in The Madame Blanc Mysteries on Channel 5.
When the cast was first revealed in January, executive producer Mike Benson explained that they had worked with both Sally and Jill many times before, but never on the same project. He highlighted their talent as two of the best actresses in the country.
Viewers are going to be just as thrilled as we are to see these two actors together, playing roles that are totally unexpected.
The new series, Number One Fan, starts on Channel 5 on Monday, May 4th at 9pm. New episodes will air every night that week.
