Coronation Street and Emmerdale caught in schedule shake-up tonight as episodes pulled from usual slot

ITV has made some changes to its schedule tonight, moving episodes of both Coronation Street and Emmerdale from their regular times.

These two soap operas typically air every weeknight for half an hour between 8 and 9 PM. But, because ITV1 is showing sports coverage, the Friday episode has been cancelled this week.

Both Coronation Street and Emmerdale have been cancelled on Friday to broadcast the England versus Uruguay football match live from Wembley Stadium.

ITV1’s broadcast starts at 7pm on Friday, March 27th, ahead of the 7:45pm kickoff. As a result, the regular episodes of Coronation Street and Emmerdale will not be shown at their usual times.

To compensate for the missed episodes, ITV will air an extra installment of each soap opera on Sunday. This means fans will still be able to watch five episodes this week, though not on their regularly scheduled days.

This Sunday, March 29th, Emmerdale will be on ITV1 at 7pm, and Coronation Street will follow at 7:30pm.

These extra episodes are being released perfectly as the unsettling story of Mal Roper (played by Tim Treloar) continues on Coronation Street.

This week on ITVX, Mal experienced a surprising memory – he suddenly recalled who attacked him. However, he hasn’t told authorities the correct person is responsible.

On Emmerdale, Kim Tate (Claire King) had to explain her choice to leave Home Farm to Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) after she passes away. Although her fortune will mostly go to her grandchildren – including Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) – Joe was upset to find out he won’t be inheriting the family home.

England is playing Uruguay in a friendly match at Wembley Stadium on Friday as they prepare for the 2026 World Cup.

Uruguay has historically been a difficult team to play against, as England has only won one of their last six matches against them. This includes a damaging loss to Uruguay during the group stage of the 2014 World Cup.

You can watch Emmerdale every weeknight at 8pm on ITV1, and Coronation Street right after at 8:30pm. Both shows are also available to stream now on ITVX.
