Filming has started on the special episode that will bring together characters from Coronation Street and Emmerdale. The episode has been nicknamed Corriedale, which perfectly captures the union of these two popular shows.
As a long-time viewer, I have to say this crossover is a first for ITV soaps, and it’s genuinely exciting! For the first time, we’ll see the characters from Coronation Street, living in Weatherfield, teaming up with their counterparts from Yorkshire in what promises to be a really action-packed hour of television. It’s a bold move, and I’m eager to see how these two worlds collide and what kind of drama unfolds.
You’ll be able to watch Corriedale on ITV, STV, ITVX and YouTube starting in early 2026. This marks the beginning of a new “power hour” for soaps, meaning each show will air 30-minute episodes every weekday.
Emmerdale will air from 8pm and Coronation Street from 8:30pm.
Filming has begun and features a daring stunt with long-lasting and significant effects for all those participating.
For now, we’re not revealing which characters will be part of this, but observant fans have already noticed some connections, giving us a big hint about who might appear.
Recently, viewers of Coronation Street noticed something surprising: a wanted poster featuring John Sugden (played by Oliver Farnworth), a character previously known from Emmerdale. He’s a fugitive criminal in that show, and the poster appeared as a background detail.

Okay, so things are really heating up for John. He’s a wanted man – a murderer, to be exact – and he’s desperately trying to evade capture. It seems Caleb Miligan (William Ash) played a key role in getting him out of the country, but honestly, I don’t see this escape lasting. It’s only a matter of time before the past catches up with him, and the truth finally comes out. The tension is palpable, and I’m on the edge of my seat wondering how long he can keep running.
Iain Macleod, an executive producer for ITV’s continuing dramas, shared his enthusiasm about the crossover: “It’s incredibly exciting that filming has begun on Corriedale. There’s a lot of excitement at both the Leeds and Manchester filming locations, and the photos from the set look absolutely amazing.”
And that’s not even mentioning the fantastic connections and scenes between characters from all the different shows! As someone who loves soaps, I genuinely think I’ll be completely overwhelmed when this episode finally airs next year. It promises to be incredible, a landmark event, and something you absolutely won’t want to miss.
