Coronation Street confirms casting of Brassic star in pivotal role for Shona Platt plot

An actor previously known for the show Brassic is now joining Coronation Street and will be playing a significant new character.

I was so surprised to learn that Steve Evets – you probably know him as Farmer Jim from that hilarious Sky comedy – is joining the cast of my favorite show! Apparently, he’s going to be playing Shona and Jodie Ramsey’s dad in some episodes next week. I can’t wait to see him in a new role!

Evets isn’t new to television dramas. Before this role, he appeared in three episodes of Emmerdale back in 1998 as Tom Shepherd. He’s also been in popular shows like Casualty, Shameless, and Life on Mars.

The story begins with Shona, determined to uncover Jodie’s hidden past, trailing her to a hospital where they’re visiting their troubled and distant father.

We first encountered this mysterious woman during the dramatic Corriedale crossover event, where she was discovered tied up inside Graham Foster’s (Andrew Scarborough) van.

Exactly how she found herself to be there remains to be seen.

Jodie shared with Shona that she had been solely responsible for caring for her father after her mother went missing, and eventually became overwhelmed. Back home, David suggested Shona take the afternoon to relax, but she chose to visit her dad instead.

Jodie is insistent that someone stay away and cleverly convinces them to go out to the Viaduct Bistro. David becomes increasingly suspicious of this person. Later, when alone, they take out a locket from a small jewelry box. The following morning, after making David’s breakfast, Jodie starts dusting the living room. A wedding photo of David and Shona falls and breaks – but it’s unclear if this was an accident. Find out more to learn what happens next.

I’m a huge fan of Michael Adams – he’s the Soaps Editor over at TopMob, and honestly, he knows everything about our favorite shows! He keeps us up-to-date on all the drama, from Weatherfield (that’s Corrie!) to Walford (EastEnders), and all the way to Emmerdale and Hollyoaks. Before TopMob, he was a Soaps Reporter at Metro for a couple of years, and he’s even worked on set for both Coronation Street and Emmerdale, which is amazing! He really understands what makes these shows tick.
