Christmas Day on Coronation Street ended dramatically at the Rovers Return, with a shocking climax leaving one character’s fate hanging in the balance.
Things were already tense between Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn) and Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley), but the situation really escalated when a bizarre, multi-layered cake was brought out.
She was clearly thrilled to have discovered Eva’s deeply personal letter to her child she lost, and she’d carefully prepared it to give to someone as a ‘Secret Santa’ gift.
Everyone enjoyed dinner, and afterwards, Maggie gave a message to her son, Ben. He opened it and looked worried after reading it.
Eva pleaded with him to stop reading, but it was already too late. Her secret abortion had been revealed to everyone at the party.
Meanwhile, tensions were building between Daniel Osbourne and Will Driscoll.
Daniel has started dating his athletics coach, Megan Walsh (played by Beth Nixon), and appears to be falling for her. This is causing friction with teenager Will, who is being manipulated by a dangerous teacher.
Daniel and Megan seemed to have a wonderful, new romance, but Will was filled with anger and constantly made snide remarks about the man Megan was seeing.

After a day filled with heated arguments, Daniel quietly told Will he knew Will liked Megan, but that they should leave relationships to grown-ups.
Daniel seemed to have pushed things too far, and was seen at the end of the show lying injured in an alleyway after being attacked.
With Will clearly the main suspect, will Daniel recover? And will young Driscoll face consequences?
