Jack P. Shepherd, who plays a popular character on Coronation Street, is reportedly staying with the show for another year after signing a new contract.
Viewers were worried David Platt, a character on Coronation Street, might die in an upcoming car crash featured in a special crossover episode with Emmerdale in January. However, The Sun reports that the actor who plays David Platt will continue in the role for another year, marking his 26th year playing the character.
Adam Shepherd first joined the show in 2000, playing the character David and replacing Thomas Ormson.
I’ve been watching this character for years, and he’s definitely been through a lot! I remember when he was a rebellious teen – he did some shocking things, like pushing his mother and hiding drugs in his niece’s doll. More recently, things have gotten even heavier. I was really affected by the storyline where he was assaulted, and it was heartbreaking watching him support his wife, Shona, after she was shot and suffered brain damage on Christmas Day. He’s been central to some incredibly dramatic and emotional plots.
He’s also facing a huge storyline soon, as he’ll be involved in a devastating car crash in January as part of a special crossover event with the show Corriedale. Tracy Barlow, Liam Cavanagh, Aaron Dingle, and Lisa Swain will also be caught up in the accident.

Several characters will be appearing, including Kit Green, James Bailey, Asha Alahan, Carla Connor, and Shona Platt. We’ll also see familiar faces from Emmerdale like Cain Dingle, Sarah Sugden, Charity Dingle, Jacob Gallagher, Robert Sugden, and Joe Tate.
Not many details are available yet, but a crash involving several vehicles near Hotten has left multiple people seriously injured or in critical condition.
