Beloved Coronation Street actress Helen Worth is bringing back her iconic character, Gail Chadwick, for a Christmas appearance – surprisingly soon after what many believed was her final storyline.
The actress portrayed Gail for more than 50 years, making her character a true icon of the ITV soap opera. Throughout her time on the show, Gail experienced a dramatic life, including seven marriages, a stint in prison, a confrontation with a stalker who targeted her second husband, and even being pushed into a canal by her third husband.
It felt right that her last story arc ended with her marrying Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson) and beginning a fresh start in France.
The Platts are really relying on Gail’s support right now, as David and Shona are heartbroken to learn their baby daughter is very sick. Helen has filmed a brief appearance that will be shown during the holiday episodes next month.
According to a source, Coronation Street is planning a Christmas Day scene where the character attempts to reach out to her family, though details are being kept secret.

This couldn’t have come at a better moment, as the Platts are facing another difficult situation, and they’ve been handling it on their own since their mother left the country.
This exciting development is sure to please fans of the show, who have been hoping to see beloved character Gail return to the streets of Weatherfield.
When asked about leaving, Worth expressed gratitude for her 50 years with the company, thanking viewers, some of whom had been watching for the entire run.

“Thanks for coming on the journey with me. I‘ve had a wonderful time. I’ve loved it all.”
She shared that the best part of the experience was the stories and collaborating with the Platts, which she truly enjoyed. She hinted at future stories involving the Platts and encouraged viewers to continue watching.
Shortly after the actress filmed her last episodes, then-Executive Producer Iain Macleod hinted that a return for the character wasn’t completely off the table.
