Coronation Street newcomer confirms there will be answers to Jodie Ramsey’s mysterious connection to Emmerdale’s Graham

Olivia Brown, who plays Jodie Ramsey on Coronation Street, has hinted at what’s coming up for her character.

Jodie first appeared in the popular ITV soap during a special crossover event with Emmerdale in January. It was later revealed that she’s the long-lost half-sister of Shona Platt, played by Julia Goulding.

Let me tell you, Jodie is quickly becoming the villain we love to hate. She’s proven herself to be pretty sneaky and controlling, and honestly, her bitterness towards her sister is palpable. And then there’s Carl Webster… hooking up with him? That’s just adding fuel to the fire. She’s making some seriously questionable choices, and I’m here for the drama.

Actress Olivia Frances Brown recently discussed her character, Jodie, in her first interview since joining the ITV soap opera. She spoke at The TopMob Covers Party 2026 with her partner, James Nelson Joyce, revealing the complexities of the intriguing character.

Frances Brown describes Jodie as a complex and layered character. She’s not simple; she’s deeply troubled and carries a lot of pain, feeling like she’s been unfairly treated.

Now that she’s located Shona, she’s returned, seemingly to settle a score, although I don’t think she’s consciously aware of that. It seems she’s mainly interested in seeing what opportunities she can find around here.

She made a dramatic entrance, arriving tied up and unable to speak in the back of a van driven by Graham Foster, as part of the special crossover event between the soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale.

Since getting away from Graham, we still haven’t discovered why Jodie was in his van to begin with.

Frances Brown hinted that viewers will eventually learn the answer to their question, but she couldn’t reveal any details just yet. She assured everyone that everything would be explained later on.

“I can’t say how long, how much time, but eventually, if you keep watching, you’ll find out why.”

Aside from the unsettling tales Jodie has been involved in, Frances Brown’s time on Weatherfield has been entirely positive.

Olivia described seeing herself on the sets of famous ‘Coronation Street’ locations like the Rovers Return and Roy’s Rolls as a dream come true.

I’ve been watching this show since I was a little girl – even as a baby! My mum watched it when she was young too, way back in the 1960s. It’s always been a huge part of my family, so being on set myself has been incredible.

“To see that my mum has been so proud as well, because it’s a big deal to her.

I truly believe I couldn’t have chosen a project that would have pleased her more, as this one is especially meaningful to her.
